So I just switched over from an iPhone 13 because the battery was getting useless and the screen was way too scratched up. I'm obsessed with this new Razr 2026 but honestly the folding screen scares me... I've been trying to research what to buy and saw stuff about TPU versus PET films—which I don't really understand at all—and some forums say not to use them because it might mess with the hinge? But then I saw a YouTube video where they said it's fine. I'm just so confused and don't want to ruin the screen or the camera. Does anyone know which screen protector is actually safe for the fold and won't just peel off after a day?

Look, I've spent 25 years fixing hydraulic lines and hinges. Listen, the Razr 2026 comes with a factory-installed protector. Do not peel it off. Doing so can damage the digitizer and void the warranty. If you must replace it, follow these facts:

  • You must use TPU. It is flexible. PET is rigid and will crack at the hinge or lift immediately.
  • Buy the Spigen NeoFlex Solid for Moto Razr 2026. It is a wet-install kit and handles the fold tension properly.
  • Another reliable choice is the Supershieldz TPU Screen Protector for Motorola Razr 2026.
  • Never use glass on the internal display. Glass does not bend. Keep the hinge clean. Dirt causes more screen failures than the film does.

ngl i literally spent all of last week reading about this because the fold is SCARY. i totally agree with the others about avoiding PET films cuz they just dont flex right. i found a couple other decent options that people seem to swear by:

  • Whitestone Dome Premium Gen Film for Razr 2026
  • Ringke Dual Easy Film for Razr 2026 basically just make sure the hinge area is SUPER clean before you even start or itll bubble instantly tbh.

So funny you ask this — last summer I was hanging out with my brother-in-law who’s a total tech geek, and he spent the whole night babying his foldable like it was a newborn. I think I remember him going on a long rant about how the materials (the PET vs TPU thing) really matter for screens that actually bend.

  • From what I've heard, you probably want TPU because it’s soft and stretchy enough to handle the hinge tension without popping off.
  • I'm pretty sure someone told me that PET films are too rigid and will just crack or lift the second you try to close the phone.
  • IIRC, the factory-installed protector is actually semi-permanent, so peeling it could potentially void your warranty or mess up the display. I’m definitely not an expert on the 2026 model specifically, but the whole thing sounds way more delicate than the old iPhone glass we're used to. It’s funny because he actually tried to put a third-party one on his first foldable and — wait, no — I think it was his friend who did that and it ended up lifting the actual screen. Honestly, I’d probably just leave the original one alone as long as possible, because trying to DIY a protector on a folding hinge sounds like a recipe for a very expensive headache!
