So I finally pulled the trigger on the S24 FE because my old base S21 basically died on me and I need a reliable phone for this new construction site gig I'm starting on Monday. I'm super paranoid about scratching the screen on day one because I'm around a lot of dust and gravel. I did a bit of digging online and everyone keeps mentioning the Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit and those amFilm ones you get on Amazon. The Spigen one looks easy to install but then I saw a bunch of reddit threads saying thick glass messes with the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor big time? Or maybe this model uses an optical one? I honestly cant tell and the specs are kinda confusing online. I dont want to spend more than 15 or 20 bucks honestly because I'm already broke from buying the phone itself. Has anyone actually tried a tempered glass one on the FE that doesnt make the fingerprint scanner useless or should I just stick with a crappy film protector? I really prefer the feel of glass but if I have to press my thumb down ten times just to unlock my phone I'm gonna lose it...
The FE actually uses an optical sensor, so you wont have the same headaches as the flagship S24 models. Ive been very satisfied with the Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Tempered Glass for S24 FE on mine.
Ive spent years on sites and sand kills everything eventually. In my experience, its better to get a multipack like the amFilm OneTouch Tempered Glass Screen Protector for S24 FE 2-Pack so you can just swap em out when they get scratched. Theyre way cheaper than Spigen. Quick question though, what kind of case are you using? Some of those rugged construction cases have high lips thatll peel up glass protectors pretty fast.
Building on the earlier suggestion, I agree that staying budget-friendly is the way to go for job sites. In my experience, expensive glass isn't always better. Just be cautious about a few things:
Like someone mentioned, that optical sensor is way more forgiving than the flagship ones so youre gonna be fine with glass. Just be super careful with the install tho because even a tiny bit of site dust trapped underneath will drive you crazy and cause peeling. Quick questions for you:
