So I finally pulled the trigger on the S26 upgrade because my S21 is basically a paperweight at this point... the battery is completely trashed and I can barely get through a morning without plugging it in plus the screen is covered in these tiny scratches that catch the light and make me want to scream. I’m super hyped for the better battery life and that new camera sensor on the S26 but I’m terrified of scratching the screen on day one so I need to get a protector ordered like right now because the phone gets here Tuesday. I’m totally torn between a couple options and I’m kinda overthinking it but I don't want to waste money or ruin the look of the phone.
My logic was to go with the Whitestone Dome Glass since everyone on reddit says it’s the only way to go if you want the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor to actually work but man that installation looks like a science experiment with the UV light and the liquid glue and honestly I’m worried I’m gonna get glue in the earpiece or something... plus it’s pretty pricey and I already spent a lot on the phone itself. Then I was looking at the Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit which is way more my speed budget-wise and the installation jig looks actually impossible to mess up but I’ve seen some mixed stuff about whether tempered glass still messes with the sensor on these newer Samsung models and I really dont want to be fighting my phone every time I try to pay for something. I also thought about just getting a cheap film protector like the amFilm ones but I hate how they feel kinda "grabby" under your finger compared to glass. Tbh I just want something that feels like the actual screen but won't make the fingerprint scanner useless. Is the Whitestone actually worth the hassle and the extra cash or is the Spigen glass good enough nowadays? I need to buy one tonight so it arrives in time for the delivery...
ngl the UV glue thing can be a total disaster if you arent careful so just make sure you watch some videos first... i lowkey worry about that liquid getting into the buttons tbh. what case are you planning to use? because some glass like Whitestone Dome Glass UV Gen S26 might not fit if the case is bulky. maybe just grab the Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit S26 to be safe...
Oh man, I’ve literally spent hundreds of dollars over the years trying to find the 'perfect' setup—my desk drawer is basically a graveyard for discarded plastic and glass—so I totally get the anxiety. If you’re worried about the 'science experiment' vibe of the Whitestone Dome Glass UV Gen S26, I actually think you should reconsider because that LOCA glue is the only thing that fills the microscopic gaps to make the ultrasonic sensor feel native—wait, actually, there is one other trick. Have you looked at the Mous Hybrid Glass S26? It’s this weird material that isn't quite full tempered glass but it isn't that gross, rubbery TPU either—it feels way more premium than the cheap film stuff. I used to be a die-hard glass-only guy but these hybrid ones are getting really good at mimicking that slick, cold-to-the-touch feel without the UV mess. But okay, if you really want to avoid the liquid and the hassle, the Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit S26 is fine, but you have to be obsessive about pressing down firmly on the sensor area right as you're dropping the glass or you'll get that annoying 'press harder' prompt forever. Honestly, if you want the absolute best optical clarity because you’re hyped for that new S26 display, just bite the bullet and do the Whitestone. Just do the install in a steamy bathroom—trust me, it kills the airborne dust—and take your time. It’s worth the extra cash to not hate your screen every time you look at it.
