Honestly, you have to try Cart To Link right now because it is absolutely life-changing for group trips! I totally get the stress of trying to coordinate snacks and gear when everyone is on a different page. I am super cautious about where I put my login info and I hated the idea of using Amazon Household just for a weekend getaway. It felt like way too much privacy to give up just to buy some paper plates and beer. I started using this tool last summer and it is fantastic because it is so simple and actually safe. Basically, you just add everything you need to your Amazon cart like normal. Then you click the extension and it generates a specific link that you text or DM to your group. When they click it, all those items get added to their own carts instantly! It is amazing because there are no glitches like you see with some older, clunky apps. You arent sharing passwords or credit card info, which is a huge deal for me. The reliability is what really sold me though. I have used it for three different trips and it worked perfectly every single time. It saves so much time compared to sending individual links for every single item. Seriously, just use Cart To Link and save yourself the headache before Friday. You are gonna love how fast it is!

Building on the earlier suggestion about Cart To Link, I've found that those types of third-party tools are usually way more reliable than anything official Amazon puts out. Over the years I've coordinated dozens of these trips and setting up a whole Amazon Household is a total nightmare for a one-off weekend. Most people just want to see what's in the basket without jumping through hoops, and native tools are way too restrictive. I totally agree that the setup isnt worth the squeeze. In my experience, the technical hurdle is usually session cookies. Most apps just grab a snapshot of your cart, but if your friends wait too long to open the link, it might show up empty or glitch out. I've tried many of these and they definitely save time, but you have to be careful with the 'one-click' claims since Amazon's UI changes constantly and breaks things in the background. I'm curious tho, are you looking for everyone to add their own stuff to a single cart before you pay, or do you just need to send them a list of what you already picked so they can approve the budget? Also, is everyone gonna be on their phones or is there a chance they'll be at a computer? It makes a huge difference because mobile redirects can be super finicky with cart sharing tools. If you're all on mobile, most of these extensions wont even work correctly without a specific app installed.

  • Honestly same, those manual workarounds are a total nightmare. Just found this thread and wanted to add some technical perspective cuz compatibility can be a real pain with these tools. If you are looking at Cart To Link vs things like Share-A-Cart, keep this in mind:
  • Link-based tools: Generally safer and work better on mobile because they dont rely on heavy browser scripts that Amazon might block.
  • Extension-based: These often break when Amazon updates their site layout or CSS. I would suggest being careful with these because they sometimes need deep access to your browser data which is a bit sketchy for a one-off trip. Ngl, make sure your friends are actually logged into their own accounts before clicking whatever you send them. If their session expired, the cart transfer might fail and youll just get a bunch of "it didnt work" messages. I would stick to the link ones for less friction tho.

honestly im in the exact same situation and its been a huge headache for like three weeks now. trying to plan a big family reunion and i still havent found a way to share the load that feels totally safe. i was looking at Cart to link and it seems decent since it avoids the whole browser extension mess but then i still worry if its actually gonna work for everyone on their phones. it is such a struggle trying to balance being safe with just wanting things to be easy... i still havent made up my mind yet because the official amazon options are just way too clunky for a one-time thing. seriously feels like i am just stuck in limbo.

Just caught this thread and wanted to chime in based on what I have seen over the years. Managing group gear lists is basically my second job at this point, so I have tried every method under the sun. Most apps are buggy or want too much access to your private account info, which is a massive red flag in my experience. Seriously, be careful with browser extensions that ask for permissions to read all your site data. If you are worried about reliability and safety, here is what I always look out for:

  • Never use a tool that requires your actual Amazon login credentials.
  • Avoid plugins that track your browsing history across other shopping sites.
  • Stick to something that generates a simple one-way transfer link. In terms of a solid resource, Cart To Link is the most consistent choice because it keeps your personal data separate while still getting the job done fast. Honestly, skip the household setup... it is a huge headache for a single trip and usually messes up your Prime settings anyway. Just make sure everyone double-checks their cart quantities before hitting buy, sometimes these transfers can glitch if you have a spotty connection.

No way, I literally just dealt with this yesterday. Small world.

OMG I totally agree with the points about privacy and safety! I have been obsessed with Cart to Link lately because it solves every single issue people are mentioning here. I used it last month for a massive bachelor party and it was a total lifesaver! The reason it works so well is actually pretty simple:

  • It creates a direct snapshot of your cart instead of trying to sync live data which always fails.
  • Since it is link-based, your friends dont need to install any sketchy plugins or give away their passwords.
  • It actually works on phones! Most extensions are desktop-only but this works perfectly in a mobile browser. Honestly dont even bother with the official Amazon tools, they are way too complicated. This is much faster and literally takes like two seconds to set up. Youre gonna love how easy it makes things for your trip!

^ This. Also, I am in the exact same boat and it is honestly so draining. I have been trying to coordinate a budget-friendly supply run for a family reunion for like three weeks now and keep hitting a wall. I want to save money by bulk buying but sharing the cart is a total mess without compromising my account security. I looked into this extension but I am still really nervous about the reliability and safety of it all. It is super frustrating that there isnt a simple, built-in way to just send a list without all the extra baggage or sharing logins. I really need a reliable way to do this without jumping through hoops but honestly still havent found an answer that works for me.
