So I've been an Amazon Prime member for like ten years and I usually know my way around the UI pretty well but I hit a wall today. I'm helping coordinate this little community pantry project in Seattle and I've got about $300 worth of supplies sitting in my cart - mostly bulk dry goods and some storage bins. The donor who is actually paying for everything is... well, she's older and doesn't even have an Amazon account.
My logic was that I could just find a share cart button or maybe just send the URL like you do with a Google Doc, but obviously that doesn't work because it's tied to my session. I looked into the whole Wish List thing but I've had issues in the past where it asks people to sign in to see the full details or prices. I really need her to see the exact items and the total with tax before she gives me the go-ahead, and I need to get this ordered by tomorrow so it arrives before the weekend.
Is there some kind of third-party tool or a hidden guest view link for carts that I'm missing? I tried taking a screenshot but it's like three pages long because of all the recommended items at the bottom and it looks messy. Just seems weird that such a huge site doesn't have a simple way to show a guest what you're planning to buy...
Regarding what #1 said about "Actually, Amazon doesnt provide guest links due to..."
Just catching up on this thread. I have dealt with this exact headache before when coordinating group buys for a local shelter. Screenshots are definitely a pain when the list gets long and you need to show the tax. A couple of quick tips from my experience:
Actually, Amazon doesnt provide guest links due to their security protocols. I have been very satisfied using a PDF export for similar projects. It works well. This method provides a reliable, professional view of the total costs.
Jumping in here because I love these kinds of community projects! I am super cautious about sharing session data or links because security is everything, but we can definitely find a reliable way to make this work for your donor. Just need to clarify a couple things first to give you the best advice:
