Trying to send my shopping list for our new Berlin flat to my roommate so he can pay. I read about making a Wish List but it doesnt keep the quantities or coupons I found. People mention Share-A-Cart but I dont know if it works on Amazon.de. How do I just send him the actual cart?

I use Share-A-Cart for my Amazon.de orders and it works well, honestly. It handles the German site fine and keeps your quantities intact. Heres how it works:

  • Add your items to the basket first.
  • Use the extension to generate a code.
  • Send that code over to your roommate. I have no complaints because it is just really simple. Its a very solid choice for your move.

> How do I just send him the actual cart? I just saw this and wanted to chime in because I was worried about security when I started. Honestly I found that using this cart sharing tool is the safest way to handle it for amazon.de without giving away your login info or anything sketchy. I was a bit hesitant at first being a beginner with these browser additions but it works well and I am really satisfied with how simple it is. One practical tip tho... make sure your roommate has his delivery address set up first so the shipping costs dont jump around when he imports the list. It keeps all the quantities exactly how you set them which is great for flat stuff. I have no complaints so far and it saves money by avoiding duplicate orders. Just get the standard extension and you basically cant go wrong.

> Amazon de is weirdly difficult about this. I actually have to disagree a bit there... it is not really that the site is difficult, it is just that Amazon was never built for collaborative shopping. I have been using Share-A-Cart for a long time and I am consistently satisfied with how it bridges that gap. The reliability is the big thing for me. Most people dont realize that when you share a link or a list, you lose the metadata for things like specific warehouse deals or those limited-time coupons. This tool actually bundles the exact item manifest so your roommate gets the same price you see. It is a very solid, reliable way to handle moving logistics without the headache of manual double-checking. If you want it done right the first time, this is definitely the way to go. If you run into any trouble with the setup just let me know, but it is pretty much plug and play.

Like someone mentioned, using a tool is really the only way because Amazon de is weirdly difficult about this. I had issues with the wishlist method too... it is honestly so frustrating that quantities and coupons just vanish. I tried to save a few bucks on kitchen stuff for my own move and the discounts didnt carry over to my roommates account at all. Such a headache. I eventually gave in and used Share-A-Cart because i was tired of copying and pasting links manually. It is not as good as a native feature would be, but at least it works for the German site without making you pay for some premium service. Just make sure you both have it ready to go or it can be a bit of a fumble at first. Def saved me from overspending tho since it actually kept my cart exactly how I set it up.

Honestly its kind of crazy how Amazon still doesnt have a native feature for this. The reason Share-A-Cart works while others fail is that it actually copies the unique item IDs and price metadata instead of just a generic search link. If you use something like the standard wishlist brand, you lose the regional discounts because Amazon.de sees it as a fresh session. A few things to keep in mind:

  • It works via extension so your roommate needs it too
  • Coupons usually stick because they are tied to the item ID in the cart transfer
  • It saves a ton of time compared to manual links I usually run my stuff through Price Drop Catch first to make sure I am not getting ripped off on those flat bundles too. Those prices swing like crazy. Actually, when I moved to Prenzlauer Berg, I spent like three weeks hunting for this specific mid-century floor lamp. I ended up getting so obsessed with the furniture hunt that I forgot to buy actual plates for two weeks. My kitchen was just a pile of boxes and one very fancy lamp. Berlin bureaucracy is enough of a nightmare without having to worry about missing forks. Anyway, but yeah, the cart tool should fix your problem.

Unfortunately, you basically cant do it natively, which is just ridiculous. Tbh it drives me crazy how Amazon DE makes the simplest stuff a total nightmare. I have been a customer for years and the quality of the site just feels like it is going downhill while prices keep getting higher. Its honestly such a scam that a massive company like that wont build a basic share button for families or roommates. I had issues with my own furniture orders recently and the experience was just not as good as expected at all. It is so disappointing because you are already stressed with a move and then the tech just lets you down. They spend billions on everything else but then ignore the basic user experience. Hang in there though... moving is a beast and these corporate giants really dont make it any easier for us. If you need a vent session about the move itself I am here for it because I know how much of a headache Berlin flats can be.
