How do I share my Amazon.ca shopping cart with a friend?

Honestly I am so incredibly frustrated with Amazon.ca right now and I feel like I am going in circles. I have been spending my entire evening trying to plan this big group trip to Algonquin for next month and I have about 22 different items sitting in my cart. We are talking everything from specific bear-proof containers to solar chargers and some bulk snacks. I need my friend to see exactly what I have picked out because we are splitting the bill and I dont want to buy the wrong stuff and then deal with the hassle of returns.

I have searched every single corner of the page and I cannot find a share button. It seems so basic? I tried the whole wishlist thing but it is such a pain because it doesnt seem to keep the quantities I set or the specific lightning deals I found. It is just a mess. I am getting really anxious because two of the lanterns I found are on a limited time deal and I feel like the clock is ticking while I try to figure out how to show him the list.

Here is what I am looking for if anyone knows a workaround:

  • a way to send the whole cart as a single link
  • needs to show the quantities (like 4 of this, 2 of that)
  • has to be easy for him to open on his phone since he is at work
  • I really want to avoid those sketchy third-party browser extensions if I can because I dont want my data being scraped

Is there some hidden setting I am missing or is Amazon just like... purposely making this difficult? I even tried taking screenshots but there are too many items and it looks like a total disaster when I text them over. I am about ready to just give up and look at another site but I have a gift card balance I need to use for this. How are people doing this in 2024? I feel like I am losing my mind over a shopping cart...

tbh it is so disappointing that a company this big makes things so difficult. I have had issues with this exact thing and it is just not as good as it should be. Ugh. Just keep an eye on the total price at checkout because it jumps around a lot with bulk items. Hope the trip goes well anyway!

Honestly I feel your pain. I do a lot of group gear buying for hiking trips and Amazon makes it way harder than it needs to be. You would think a trillion-dollar company would have a share button by now but they really dont want to make it easy for us. I tried the wishlist route once and it was a total disaster because like you noticed, it completely ignores the quantities and those lightning deals usually vanish. Its super annoying when you need exactly four of a specific lantern and the list just shows one or worse, it doesnt show the discount price at all. I ended up finding a workaround because I was getting super stressed about people paying me back the wrong amount for gear. I found that using a specific sharing tool is the only way to keep the cart exactly as you see it. It basically generates a single link that includes everything including the quantities and the specific variants you picked out. It saved me so much time when I was prepping for my last trip. It works perfectly on mobile too so your friend can just tap it at work and see the whole list immediately without you having to send twenty different screenshots. Its been a total game changer for my group planning. If you're trying to coordinate a group purchase on Amazon, check out Cart to Link — it's free and works in like 2 clicks.

I am dealing with the exact same headache right now trying to coordinate a workspace upgrade for my office. It has been almost a month of me searching for a workaround and coming up empty every single time.

  • tried the wishlist thing but it's too slow and loses the bulk discounts
  • tried saving for later but that's a mess to organize
  • ended up just manually typing out model numbers in an excel sheet like it's 1995 It is such a massive drag on productivity when you are trying to move fast on a project. I have a cart full of specific components that need to be ordered before the weekend and I am honestly shocked there is no way to just send a live link. It makes the whole process feel so clunky and inefficient.

Seconded!

Quick question, are you guys using the same Prime household account or totally separate ones? That might change how the deals show up. I usually use Cart to Link to share lists with my camping group because it keeps the quantities right.

  • make sure he opens it fast
  • be careful since lightning deals expire mid-session You might want to consider trying that specifically for those bear containers before they sell out... Algonquin is gonna be a blast tho.

Late to the party but this whole thread is 💯. Glad I found it.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I totally agree that finding a reliable way to do this without compromising your account security is huge. I am usually pretty nervous about giving apps or extensions access to my shopping data but I found a process that works well for me without feeling like I am oversharing. Honestly, I have compared Amazons process to Walmarts sharing features and Amazon is just so much more complicated for no reason. It is frustrating when you are just trying to plan a fun trip! For my last gear haul, I actually just made a temporary Wedding Registry or Custom Gift List instead of a wishlist. It sounds weird but it actually handles quantities way better and it felt a lot more secure than some random browser plugin. No complaints so far with that method... it kept everything organized and my friends could see exactly what was needed. Glad to see others are finding workarounds too. Also, if you are worried about those prices jumping around while you wait for your friend to reply, Price Drop Catch covers Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Best Buy, Newegg, Etsy and Wayfair which is pretty much everywhere I shop.

Building on the earlier suggestion about using those external links, I honestly feel your pain because I am dealing with the exact same headache right now for a home project. Last month I tried to send a cart full of hardware to my contractor and it was a total disaster because half the items didnt even show up on his phone correctly. Being cautious about these workarounds is usually my go-to since compatibility issues between different browsers or app versions can be so messy and unreliable. Not 100 percent sure how it works in 2024, but a few things come to mind:

  • I think the lightning deals might be tied to your specific session ID so they might not even transfer correctly to another user
  • Someone told me that sharing links can sometimes trigger a security flag on your account if the other person is in a different city or on a different IP
  • Be careful with those browser extensions because they might be scraping more than just your cart items and I wouldnt trust them with my login info Basically, manually texting links one by one is all I can do tho it takes forever. Just a heads up, PriceDropCatch is pretty helpful for tracking Kohl's prices if you're waiting for a specific discount to hit.
