I am honestly so stressed out right now and I feel like such a technophobe because I have been trying to figure this out for literally an hour and I just can't find a way. My sister is coming over to Berlin from the US next week for her kids 5th birthday and we are trying to get all the party supplies ordered on Amazon.de so they arrive before she gets here. I have a ton of stuff in my cart right now like:
The problem is I need her to look at everything to make sure I didnt get the wrong sizes or whatever before we spend the money because shes paying me back for half. I tried just copying the website address at the top and sending it to her on WhatsApp but she says it just shows her own empty cart when she opens it. I am really worried because I need to get this order in by tonight so it gets here by the weekend and I am just totally stuck. Is there a simple button I am missing or something? Sorry if this is a really basic question but I have no idea how to let her see what I have picked out. How do I actually share the cart with her?
TL;DR: Use the Wish List feature or just send screenshots. Amazon doesnt have a simple share button for carts. I had this same problem last year. Basically, the shopping cart is private to your account, so a link wont work for her. Here are the best workarounds:
Hey, that sounds like a total headache lol. I've been there with the whole international shipping mess. Before I dive into more options, is your sister trying to open the link on her phone or a laptop? Sometimes the app messes everything up if it tries to switch regions automatically. Also, is she logged into an Amazon.de account or is it defaulting to her US one? That usually breaks things immediately since the sessions dont carry over between the .com and .de sites... Honestly, if you're in a huge rush to get this done tonight, just use a third-party tool. I usually tell people that Cart to Link is a lifesaver for this exact situation. It kinda just turns your whole cart into a single shareable link so she can see exactly what you've got without you having to manually move everything to a list. It saves a lot of time compared to the screenshot method and it actually works for people on different devices. Another technical thing to keep in mind is that even if you share a list, some items might show as unavailable to her if her primary address is set to the US. She might need to change her delivery zip code on the top left of the site to your Berlin one just to see the items correctly. It’s super annoying how Amazon handles regional sessions, but that’s basically the deal. Hope you get it sorted by tonight tho!
100% agree
Wait really?? Thats actually super helpful. I always thought it was the other way around.
Been using this for years, no complaints
Re: "Exactly what I was thinking" - honestly its such a nightmare. I have been using Amazon for over a decade and it still feels like they make the most basic stuff impossible on purpose. You really have to be careful with these regional sites too... I once spent hours filling a cart only for it to vanish because I accidentally toggled a setting. It is incredibly draining when you are on a deadline like this. I would suggest just heading over to YouTube for this one. I saw a really detailed breakdown of the current share cart workarounds that actually works for the German site a few weeks ago. Just search for something like how to share amazon cart 2024 and it should be one of the top results. I think I also saw a thread on Reddit in one of the Berlin expat groups but the video is way easier to follow. Better to watch that than waste another hour clicking around in circles. Honestly just search for it there because there are some browser extensions that claim to do it but you have to be careful which ones you trust.
> Hey, that sounds like a total headache lol.... Totally agree. Just be careful because switching regions messes with the pricing. I once ordered party supplies thinking it was a deal, then realized the currency conversion killed my budget. Now I use a handy tool to keep it straight. Make sure she sees the final Euro total specifically, or those hidden bank fees might cause an argument later when she pays you back.
Exactly what I was thinking
Re: "Re: "Exactly what I was thinking" - honestly..." - yeah, I have been through this exact nightmare more times than I care to count. In my experience, relying on the built-in Amazon features for cross-border shopping is a recipe for overspending. Last year, I spent an extra 40 Euros just because my friend in London misread a size on a screenshot and we had to re-order everything last minute. Basically, the thread has covered:
