How can I share my Amazon shopping cart with another person?

I feel like a total dinosaur asking this but I am so stuck. I just moved into a tiny studio in Seattle and I am trying to get stuff for a small housewarming thing next month. I have like 20 items in my Amazon cart but I really need my sister to check if the colors match her rug before I hit buy. Is there a button for this? I have looked everywhere and I am just confused.

  • I dont want to give her my login info
  • she lives in another state
  • I need her to see the exact items

I really have no idea where to start or if this is even possible without her just logging into my account which feels wrong. Is there an easier way to do this? Sorry if this is such a basic thing...

I would suggest being careful with your login info since sharing it is a security risk. Since there is no native button, you might want to consider using Cart to Link to share your whole cart easily. It is much more practical than making separate lists.

  • Be sure to double-check quantities before sending.
  • Make sure she sees the exact colors you picked. It is a very efficient way to handle this.

I've tested Wish Lists (native but slow) against carttolink.com (fast but external). The tool wins for speed, tho lists are better if you dont want to share data with third parties.

Good to know!

Hey, so Amazon has weirdly kept this functionality locked down for years... probably for data tracking reasons. In my experience, they dont make it easy to just click a share button. Over the years I have dealt with this plenty and there are two main ways to handle it without giving up your password.

  • The Wish List Route: This is the native way. Create a new list, move your cart items there, and set it to Shared. You just send her the link. Its okay, but sometimes it doesnt show the exact color variant you picked which is a pain for matching rugs.
  • Use a Cart Transfer Tool: This is my preferred technical solution. I usually go with this site called Share-A-Cart. It basically takes a snapshot of your current cart and turns it into a short code. You send her that code, she enters it, and your exact 20 items (with the right colors and sizes) load right up for her.
  • Registry Method: You could also create a housewarming registry. It sounds formal but it actually has the best interface for viewing item details together. I have tried a bunch of workarounds and the extension is usually the fastest because it avoids the whole save-for-later dance. Just make sure she sees the specific SKU or color name in the description so she can match it to the rug properly... nothing worse than a clashing studio setup. Good luck with the move tho, Seattle is pricey but the views are worth it.

I have been using Amazon for ages and honestly, it is still a mess for sharing. If you use the list method, keep in mind that sometimes color selections dont carry over perfectly if the item has a lot of variations. For a more direct way to keep those specific details intact, I have found Cart to Link to be a pretty reliable alternative for sending exactly what is in your basket without much fuss. Just to clarify a couple things tho so we can narrow down the best fix for you. Are you planning on having her buy these for you, or is she just there for the visual check? Also, is she gonna be viewing this on her phone or a computer... some of these tools are way easier to navigate on a desktop than others.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I've been around the block with Amazon's weirdly limited sharing options for a long time. It is honestly kinda annoying how they havent fixed this yet. I would suggest being a bit careful with how you handle this tho, especially since you have so many items. While native lists are the official way, they often lose the specific color or size selections when someone else views them which is a huge pain. If you want her to see exactly what you picked for that studio, you might want to consider Cart to Link instead of the manual list method. It is much more streamlined than clicking 'move to list' twenty times lol. A few things to watch out for:

  • Third-party tools are way faster but always check what permissions you're giving.
  • Make sure she doesnt have her own items in her cart when she clicks your link or it might get messy.
  • Prices can fluctuate wildly on Amazon, so if she waits a few days to look, the total might change. Its definitely a better move than sharing your password. I've seen too many people get their accounts locked for suspicious activity just because a family member logged in from another state. Just keep it simple and send the link.
