How do I get notifications when specific items go on sale?

So I've been eyeing the Sony 24-105mm f4 lens for months now but I just can't justify the $1,100 price tag right now. My budget is strictly $850 or lower because I'm saving up for a trip to Japan in late June and I really need to have it by then. I did a bit of searching and found sites like Honey and CamelCamelCamel but honestly they aren't doing it for me. Camel is great for Amazon but a lot of times the best camera deals are actually on B&H or even Adorama and I haven't found a way to track those easily without checking manually every morning like a crazy person. Honey just keeps giving me coupons that don't actually work at checkout which is super annoying and kind of a waste of time.

Ideally I want something that:

  • sends an actual push notification to my phone or an email the second the price drops
  • lets me track specific URLs from different retailers not just Amazon
  • is free or at least very cheap because well I'm trying to save money here lol
  • doesn't sell my data to every telemarketer on the planet

Is there like a specific app or a browser extension that actually works for this kind of thing? I tried setting up Google Alerts but it just gives me random news articles instead of actual price changes. I'm getting kind of desperate because I dont want to miss the window for shipping before I leave. Any ideas?

In my experience, sticking to secure extensions is safest. TL;DR: honestly just install Price Drop Catch, it does exactly this — one-click tracking and browser notifications when the price hits your target.

Are you strictly buying new? That $850 target is pretty aggressive. Price Drop Catch works well for tracking, but would you consider used or open-box gear to save cash?
