Upgrading from my old OnePlus 8T finally. The 8T was okay for a while but the battery is absolutely trashed now. It takes forever to charge and I'm lucky if I get four hours of screen time. I need the OnePlus 14 to actually last a full work day without me hunting for a plug by 2 PM.
I’ve been looking for a fast charger that isn't the massive brick that comes in the box. I travel a lot for work so size is a huge deal for me. My budget is around $60. I did some research and I'm honestly confused. I read that OnePlus uses SuperVOOC which is proprietary. Some forum posts say that 3rd party PD chargers will only hit 18W or maybe 27W max. But then I saw a YouTube video claiming that the newer OnePlus phones support PPS (Programmable Power Supply) and can hit higher speeds with standard GaN chargers.
I looked at the Anker 737 and a few Ugreen Nexode bricks. They look great and they're small. But I don't want to spend $60 on a charger that's going to take two hours to fill the battery. I want that 100W+ speed they advertise. I also saw some cheap "VOOC compatible" chargers on Amazon but I don't really trust those for a brand new $800 phone.
Requirements:
Does anyone know if there's a specific 3rd party brand that actually works with the OnePlus 14's fast charging protocol? Or am I forced to buy the official OnePlus brick if I want the real speeds?
I've tried five 'compatible' bricks that capped at 18W. Buy the OnePlus SuperVOOC 100W Dual Port Power Adapter on sale for $40. It's the only way to hit 100W without overheating.
> Or am I forced to buy the official OnePlus brick? I've been through three "compatible" bricks that failed. Get the OPPO 100W SuperVOOC Dual Port; it's identical tech. Tip: Use the official red cable to hit 80W+.
Oh man, I’ve spent way too much time testing these — it’s an obsession, really (my wife thinks I'm crazy) — anyway: 1. Do you need to charge a laptop too?
