Finally upgrading from my beat-up OnePlus 8T—the battery is basically a potato now—and I’m honestly a bit anxious about the size of this new OnePlus 13. I've been looking at the Spigen and Poetic options online, but I'm worried they'll either be too bulky or won't protect that massive camera island properly. My old 8T's screen shattered in a 'slim' case, so I need something legit this time.
Requirements:
- Serious drop protection (especially for the corners)
- Texture that isn't slippery
- Needs to work with the 50W wireless charging
- Budget is around $40 max
I really want to keep the ergonomics decent since the phone is already a beast. Has anyone found a case that balances actual impact resistance without making it feel like a brick in the pocket? Oh, also needs to have a good cutout for the alert slider because some of these cases make it impossible to use...

everyone always points to spigen or poetic but tbh theyre kinda overrated and get super oily after like a week. NGL i hate how those popular cases feel in hand and they definitely arent as protective as the marketing says. if you want actual protection that isnt a literal brick, you gotta look at the Ringke Onyx for OnePlus 13. people sleep on it because it isnt premium but the texture is like that old school sandstone finish which is HUGE for a phone this big. it wont slide out of your hand and the corner bumpers are actually functional instead of just being for show. plus the alert slider cutout is actually deep enough to use without needing tiny fingers. it hits that sweet spot under $20 too so you dont get ripped off by brand tax... spigen is just paid reviews at this point honestly.

tbh if you want real drop protection that doesnt feel like a total brick you should just grab the TUDIA DualShield Grip OnePlus 13 and call it a day. it has that dual-layer setup which is ESSENTIAL for corner impacts but the textured ridges on the sides mean you wont even drop it in the first place and it lowkey has the best clearance for the alert slider. the camera cutout is raised enough to actually protect the glass when it lands flat and it wont mess with your 50W wireless charging speeds at all which is a huge win for a case this solid and affordable... honestly for twenty bucks it feels way more premium than those generic plastic shells and keeps the ergonomics from getting ruined.

Re: "everyone always points to spigen or poetic but..." Look, Ive spent 25 years in a shop and dropping gear on concrete is just part of the job. Ngl my last phone screen shattered because I used a thin cover.
- Listen, stop looking at the thin stuff.
- My current setup took a six foot drop off a lift onto a floor jack and didnt even scuff.
- Texture matters when your hands are covered in grease.
