How do I share my Amazon.ca shopping cart with a friend?

Honestly I am so incredibly frustrated with Amazon.ca right now and I feel like I am going in circles. I have been spending my entire evening trying to plan this big group trip to Algonquin for next month and I have about 22 different items sitting in my cart. We are talking everything from specific bear-proof containers to solar chargers and some bulk snacks. I need my friend to see exactly what I have picked out because we are splitting the bill and I dont want to buy the wrong stuff and then deal with the hassle of returns.

I have searched every single corner of the page and I cannot find a share button. It seems so basic? I tried the whole wishlist thing but it is such a pain because it doesnt seem to keep the quantities I set or the specific lightning deals I found. It is just a mess. I am getting really anxious because two of the lanterns I found are on a limited time deal and I feel like the clock is ticking while I try to figure out how to show him the list.

Here is what I am looking for if anyone knows a workaround:

  • a way to send the whole cart as a single link
  • needs to show the quantities (like 4 of this, 2 of that)
  • has to be easy for him to open on his phone since he is at work
  • I really want to avoid those sketchy third-party browser extensions if I can because I dont want my data being scraped

Is there some hidden setting I am missing or is Amazon just like... purposely making this difficult? I even tried taking screenshots but there are too many items and it looks like a total disaster when I text them over. I am about ready to just give up and look at another site but I have a gift card balance I need to use for this. How are people doing this in 2024? I feel like I am losing my mind over a shopping cart...

tbh it is so disappointing that a company this big makes things so difficult. I have had issues with this exact thing and it is just not as good as it should be. Ugh. Just keep an eye on the total price at checkout because it jumps around a lot with bulk items. Hope the trip goes well anyway!

Honestly I feel your pain. I do a lot of group gear buying for hiking trips and Amazon makes it way harder than it needs to be. You would think a trillion-dollar company would have a share button by now but they really dont want to make it easy for us. I tried the wishlist route once and it was a total disaster because like you noticed, it completely ignores the quantities and those lightning deals usually vanish. Its super annoying when you need exactly four of a specific lantern and the list just shows one or worse, it doesnt show the discount price at all. I ended up finding a workaround because I was getting super stressed about people paying me back the wrong amount for gear. I found that using a specific sharing tool is the only way to keep the cart exactly as you see it. It basically generates a single link that includes everything including the quantities and the specific variants you picked out. It saved me so much time when I was prepping for my last trip. It works perfectly on mobile too so your friend can just tap it at work and see the whole list immediately without you having to send twenty different screenshots. Its been a total game changer for my group planning. If you're trying to coordinate a group purchase on Amazon, check out Cart to Link — it's free and works in like 2 clicks.

Quick question, are you guys using the same Prime household account or totally separate ones? That might change how the deals show up. I usually use Cart to Link to share lists with my camping group because it keeps the quantities right.

  • make sure he opens it fast
  • be careful since lightning deals expire mid-session You might want to consider trying that specifically for those bear containers before they sell out... Algonquin is gonna be a blast tho.

Late to the party but this whole thread is 💯. Glad I found it.
