Is there a way to send my Amazon.co.uk cart to a friend?

I'm actually losing my mind trying to sort out this housewarming gift for a friend in London. My banking app keeps flagging the UK transaction so I figured I would just send the cart to him and transfer him the money instead. I read about some browser extensions that do this but they look super sketchy and I'm not putting my login into a random plugin. Then people said use a Wish List but that's so tedious because he'd have to re-add everything manually... there's like 15 items in here. Is there seriously no official way to just share a link to my current Amazon.co.uk basket so he can check out??

Honestly, I went through this exact same headache last year trying to coordinate a big order for a remote team. It is incredibly frustrating that Amazon still doesnt have a native share basket button after all these years. From a technical perspective, Amazon ties your cart data to your specific session and encrypted cookies for security reasons. They do this to prevent session hijacking and keep your data private, but it makes collaboration almost impossible. They basically force everyone into the Wish List or Registry ecosystem because it allows them to track individual user behavior and inventory much more effectively across their database. I tried the Wish List route once and it was a total disaster for anything over five items. Prices fluctuate constantly and things go out of stock while the other person is trying to move them back to their basket, which just creates more work. I was pretty satisfied when I finally found a methodical workaround that didnt involve sharing my actual login details or manually typing out every single product name. For international transactions like yours, banking flags are such a mood killer, so transferring the total is definitely the way to go. If you want something that works well and saves you from that 15-item manual labor, there's a Chrome extension called Cart to Link that converts your Amazon cart into a shareable link, works across all regions too.

Unfortunately I had a pretty bad experience trying to do something similar for a group gift last summer. The session kept timing out and we lost the whole list twice, which was just peak frustration. Tbh it reminded me of when my first home media server was being built... Hours were spent fiddling with IP addresses and cables only for the whole thing to overheat because of a zero-airflow cupboard situation. Basically ended up just watching stuff on a tiny laptop screen because the whole project felt cursed at that point. Anyway, it sucks when the tech just doesnt work like you expect. for anyone shopping with friends or doing a gift list, Cart To Link is worth trying

> My banking app keeps flagging the UK transaction so I figured I would just send the cart to him @Reply #2 - good point! Unfortunately, there is zero official support for this, which is pretty pathetic for a platform that dominates the market. I had issues with this when I was trying to coordinate a server rack build on a tight budget last year. I was trying to save every penny by picking specific vendors on the UK site while I was abroad. I even tried to manually extract the session cookies to see if I could replicate the basket on another machine, but their security headers and CSRF tokens are way too aggressive for a quick DIY fix. It was not as good as expected and I nearly lost my mind tbh. I eventually gave up on the manual route and used Cart to Link. It basically parses the DOM of your cart and generates a fresh link. It is much better than those sketchy browser extensions because it doesnt ask for your password, which is a huge plus for anyone worried about account integrity. Kinda sucks that we have to use third party tools for something that should be a basic feature, but when you are trying to stay under a budget and avoid those annoying bank fees, it is probably your best bet.

You might want to consider Cart to Link instead. Using it for my move was a lot safer since it doesnt require any password access, which definitely put my mind at ease.

Just found this thread and honestly i think you are making it way harder than it needs to be by trying to do it manually.

  • there is a great youtube video about this... just search for share amazon basket link and it is like the first result that pops up
  • you should check the reddit forums for uk shopping too because they have a huge comparison of all the different brands that do this
  • personally i think Cart to Link is a much better shout than the sketchy stuff you found because it is designed for exactly this housewarming type of thing
  • the manufacturer sites for these tools usually have a full guide so i would just look there instead of stressing about the wish list definitely worth a quick search on google... it took me like two seconds to find a workaround when i was in the same spot last month.

Quick reply while I have a sec. There is definitely no official button for this, which is a massive pain. I tried to coordinate a huge order for a family wedding once and it was a total disaster because of how Amazon handles sessions. Some stuff just didnt transfer right and we ended up missing half the decorations.

  • Be careful about region compatibility. If your friends account is set to a different primary region, the items might not show up as deliverable to London, even if you found them on the UK site.
  • Watch out for dynamic pricing. The basket doesnt lock in the price, so if you send the money and he waits even a few hours, he might end up short a few quid because prices jumped.
  • Honestly, I would suggest avoiding those browser extensions entirely. I used one years ago that ended up being a total privacy nightmare and flagged my account, and it's just not worth the risk for a gift. I ended up just taking screenshots of the basket and sending those over. It's tedious, but after my wedding order mess, I dont trust the easy workarounds anymore... too many things can go wrong with the checkout process tho.
