So we are finally moving into our new place in Austin and I am trying to organize this massive housewarming party for next Friday. My roommates keep adding stuff to the list but I am the only one with the prime account so I have to be the one to actually buy it all. It is getting super annoying sending links back and forth.

I am looking at these two specifically:

  • Share-a-Cart
  • Shopping Cart Share

I am leaning toward Share-a-Cart but honestly I just need whatever is fastest and wont charge me a subscription fee or anything weird since we are already broke from the security deposit lol. Which one actually works without making everyone create an account?

  • Unfortunately, those extensions were not as good as expected during my house hunt.
  • Just use Cart to Link since it is free and works in two clicks without account hassles.

^ This. Also, I was in the same boat when I moved last year and honestly Share-a-Cart is pretty solid for what you need. I am usually pretty wary about browser extensions because of privacy stuff, but I have been really satisfied with how this one works without being invasive. It does the job without any weird background processes. Heres why I stuck with it:

  • No account required for the person receiving the cart, which was huge for my roommates.
  • It generates a simple code or link that eventually expires, which feels safer than a permanent link.
  • It actually handles the Amazon product IDs correctly so the right items show up every time. Basically, it just grabs the list and rebuilds the cart on the other end. I used this cart sharing tool for our whole kitchen setup and had no complaints at all. Just make sure everyone has the extension installed or it might get a bit clunky. Good luck with the housewarming tho, moving is such a pain.

Ugh, moving is the absolute worst for the wallet, so I totally get being broke right now. I actually tried Shopping Cart Share when I moved last summer and it was honestly such a headache. It felt super slow and just didn't work half the time with some of my kitchen stuff, plus the interface is kinda clunky tbh. I ended up getting really frustrated because it felt like a chore just to get everyone on the same page. If you're trying to save every penny for that housewarming booze, I'd just skip the complicated ones. I usually just use Cart to Link because it stays free and you don't have to deal with the whole account creation nightmare. It literally just makes a link you can text over. Super simple, no hidden fees, and it wont annoy your roommates who are probably also stressed out from the move.
