When do Amazon and Walmart usually start their holiday sales?

Honestly Im so over these fake sales everywhere lately. Every time I check Amazon for this specific camera setup I want to get my sister- my budget is strictly $800 for all my shopping this year since things are tight- the price just jumps up and down like crazy. Its actually exhausting trying to time it right. Last year I waited until actual Black Friday and everything was already sold out or the shipping was gonna take like three weeks which totally ruined my plans for our family trip to Maine on the 15th. Walmart isnt any better honestly their site keeps showing deals that are literally the same price they were back in August if you actually look at the price history trackers. I just want to get this over with so I can stop checking my phone every five minutes. Im really trying to be more organized this year and not do the last minute panic buy at the local mall where everything is marked up. Does anyone actually know when the real heavy hitters start for Amazon and Walmart? Like when do the prices actually drop for real and stay down for a bit? Ive heard rumors about early November but I dont want to pull the trigger too soon if the actual deep discounts happen later...

TL;DR: Early Nov. Amazon fluctuates, Walmart sells out fast. Both are annoying tbh. the thing I like about Price Drop Catch is no email spam, it's all browser notifications so you actually see it immediately

Honestly, those sales are never as good as expected lately. What camera model are you trying to get tho? Knowing the brand matters because some rarely drop their prices. I had such a bad time waiting for a Fuji kit last year only to watch it sell out while I was working. It was super frustrating. Tip: check warehouse deals for open box items, they are usually cheaper anyway.

Amazon and Walmart usually start pushing their early holiday deals right at the beginning of November, though unfortunately the quality of the sales has been pretty disappointing lately. I had issues with tracking prices last year and the stress just wasnt worth it.

  • Just go with any Sony camera. You really cant go wrong with that brand for travel and they are way more reliable than the cheaper alternatives.
  • Pull the trigger as soon as you see a price you can live with in early November. Reliability is worth more than saving twenty bucks if it means it actually arrives before your trip to Maine.
  • Watch out for shipping times because they always get messy once the real rush starts, its just not as good as expected these days. Good luck getting everything sorted before you leave for Maine. Let me know if you want me to look over any specific bundle deals you find later on.

Building on the earlier suggestion, honestly I feel your pain so much. Over the years Ive tried many times to time these sales perfectly and it almost never works out the way I want. Its just a massive headache watching those prices bounce around like a tennis ball. I spent weeks last year refreshing pages for a new setup and ended up just getting frustrated and buying something else entirely because I was so over the games. Basically these big retailers just want us glued to our screens and it gets exhausting. In my experience youre better off just picking a solid brand and sticking with it rather than chasing the perfect discount that might never come. If you want something reliable for that Maine trip just get any mirrorless from Canon. You really cant go wrong with Canon for those kinds of family photos and the colors always look great. I usually prefer the DIY approach anyway... buying the body and lenses separately lets you control the quality instead of getting stuck with the cheap kit lenses they throw into those holiday bundles. Good luck tho, the holiday shopping stress is definitely real this year.
