Upgrading from a 13 Pro Max. My current screen is covered in micro-scratches. It drives me crazy. The battery is also failing, so it's time. I'm getting the 17 Pro Max for the camera and the screen size. I need to protect it properly this time. I did some searching. Spigen keeps coming up. Some people say their latest batch has alignment issues with the new bezel. That makes me nervous. I checked the Belkin ones at the Apple Store too. They want $40. That's a total rip-off for a thin sheet of glass. I just want something reliable. No bubbles and no lifting at the edges. I don't want to waste money on five different brands just to find one that works. It shouldn't be this hard to find a decent protector. What are the top recommended screen protectors for the new iPhone 17 Pro Max that actually fit?

@Reply #2 - good point! I was actually looking at that same one last night when I was spiraling down the rabbit hole of YouTube reviews and forum threads. Honestly, I'm no expert but I just looked into this last week because I was terrified of those new thin bezels too — I mean, spending over a grand on a phone and then messing up the screen on day one? No thanks. So basically, what I've gathered from everyone here and my own deep-dive is that the alignment tray is the make-or-break part this year. If it’s even a hair off, the protector sits on the curve of the glass and you get those ugly white edges. Here is what I found out:

  • Most of the cheap brands haven't updated their molds for the 17 Pro Max's specific bezel curve yet.
  • You want 'full coverage' but it can't be so wide that your case pops the edges up — it's a delicate balance, I swear.
  • Paying $40 for Belkin is basically just paying for the machine at the Apple Store to do it for you. I ended up really liking the ESR Armorite Screen Protector for iPhone 17 Pro Max because it has this 110-lb pressure resistance — wait, no — I think they call it 110-lb force resistance? Anyway, it's supposed to be incredibly tough. What really sold me was their 'Easy Install' frame that actually clips onto the phone so it can't wiggle while you're dropping the glass down. It also has a dust-repelling adhesive which is huge because I always somehow get one tiny speck of lint trapped right in the middle.

To add to the point above: I’ve gone through a dozen setups this month — trust me, the Torras Diamond Shield for iPhone 17 Pro Max is the only one that didn't drive me insane. The alignment frame is actually rigid — unlike those flimsy Spigen ones lately — so it hits the bezel perfectly. Wait, no — it hits the edge exactly without gaps. Anyway, the glass feels just like the naked screen without that $40 Apple tax.

Oh man, screen protection is basically my entire personality at this point — I’ve spent way too much time testing the hardness scale on every release for years. You’re right to be paranoid about the 17 Pro Max because those new super-slim bezels are a total nightmare for tolerances. If the protector is even a fraction of a millimeter off, you get that nasty 'halo effect' where the edge just refuses to stick — or worse, it starts lifting the second you put a case on. Honestly, stay away from those generic multi-packs that don't include a high-precision alignment jig. I’ve seen so many people ruin three protectors in a row because the plastic tray was slightly warped. Also, watch out for the 'ultra-thin' ones — wait, no, I mean the ones that claim to be shatterproof but are basically just soft plastic. Anyway, the bottom line is that cheap adhesive on bargain-bin stuff traps micro-dust way easier than high-end kits.
