so i finally decided to pull the trigger on the iphone 17e because my iphone 12 is basically a brick at this point like the battery doesnt even last until lunch and the screen is cracked so i need a fresh start tbh. im really looking for something that wont overheat because that was a huge issue with my 12 when i used magsafe. i was looking at the official apple charger but then i saw some people saying the esr ones with the little fans are better for keeping speeds up? but then someone else said those fans are loud and annoying so i was thinking maybe just a standard anker puck. my logic was that since the 17e is smaller maybe it gets hotter faster? idk i'm kinda panicked because im leaving for a trip in two days and i need to order something on prime right now. i read that the 17e might have some new qi2 support that makes it faster than the old ones but then some tech blog said it’s still capped at 15w for some reason which is super confusing... has anyone actually tested which one stays cool while charging fast? i really just want something reliable that fits in my bag easily since i care about the size and weight mostly.

I'm no expert but I just looked into this last week because I was spiraling about the same "will it melt my phone" thing. I saw those tech blogs too — the 15W cap is real but that's actually the max for MagSafe anyway, so you aren't really losing out. I was thiiiis close to getting the ESR Qi2 MagSafe Charger with CryoBoost but the fan reviews scared me off — I need my sleep! I ended up grabbing the Anker MagGo Wireless Charger Pad Qi2 instead. It’s super slim (fits in my tiny tech pouch no problem) and it uses the new Qi2 tech which is basically just as fast as the official Apple puck but feels more solid? I mean — at least to me. It stays way cooler than my old charger did, probably because the 17e is more efficient with the power draw than the older models were.
