Hey everyone! I just officially joined the Google ecosystem with the new Pixel 8a, and I’m absolutely loving the camera and the smooth performance so far. However, I’ve quickly realized that my old, clunky car mount from years ago just isn't cutting it anymore. The Pixel 8a is a bit more compact than some of the "Pro" phones out there, but since I’m using a slightly thick Spigen protective case, I need something that can grip it securely without me having to wrestle with it every time I get in the car.

I’m specifically looking for something budget-friendly—ideally under $25—because I’ve already spent enough on the phone and accessories this month! I’ve been browsing a few options online, like those gravity-link mounts that clip onto the air vents, but I’m worried about them blocking the airflow or being too wobbly on bumpy roads. I’m also curious if any of you have tried those magnetic plates with this specific model, or if a traditional adjustable clamp style is better for the 8a's 6.1-inch dimensions.

Does anyone have a specific brand or model they’d recommend that stays secure but won't break the bank?

Sooo, been thinking about your question. Basically, gravity mounts rely on phone weight to close the wings, but thick cases shift the center of gravity, making them LITERALLY fly off on bumps! You need a mechanical clamp for security. I've used these for years and they're amazing!!

* iOttie Easy One Touch 5 Dash & Windshield Mount - super solid and under $25.
* VANMASS Universal Car Phone Mount

Stick with dash mounts. gl!!

Just found this thread! In my experience:
- LISEN Universal Car Phone Mount for Dashboard and Windshield
Seriously, safety first... this is SO reliable for the 8a with a chunky Spigen case.

> Building on the earlier suggestion, Ive used these for years and theyre amazing!! So funny you ask this — last summer I was being such a cheapskate after buying my new phone that I tried to DIY a mount using just some thick rubber bands and a binder clip I found in my junk drawer. Ngl I thought I was a GENIUS until I hit a pothole on the way to the lake and my phone launched itself directly into my open soda... it was a total disaster and sticky everywhere. My cousin spent like twenty minutes trying to clean the speaker grill with a tiny straw while we were just sitting there melting in the heat. Idk why I thought that would work but we still talk about the soda incident every time someone gets a new car accessory... basically being too cheap can end up costing you a whole drink.
