Recommended fast wireless chargers for Google Pixel 8 Pro users?

I'm finally moving to the Pixel 8 Pro from an ancient iPhone 11—the battery was literally dying by lunch—and I'm super confused about wireless charging. I've been reading up and saw the Google Stand 2 mentioned a lot (apparently it's the only one that hits 23W?) but then I saw Anker pads on Amazon that claim to be "fast" but maybe they aren't fast for this phone? My logic was that any Qi charger works, but then I read about "EPP" and now I'm just anxious I'll buy the wrong thing. I've got maybe $70 to spend. I really just want speed without cooking the battery. Is the official one the only real option for full speed?

Rarely post but I saw this and had to chime in because I just spent an embarrassing amount of time—like, way too many hours—digging through spec sheets for my own 8 Pro. If you actually want that 23W peak speed, you’re basically forced into the proprietary ecosystem—everything else is just "slow charging" in a fancy box.

  • Google Pixel Stand 2nd Gen: The only real choice for 23W. It has a built-in fan to keep things cool—though it can be a bit hummy—and it turns your phone into a mini Nest hub.
  • Anker 315 Wireless Charger Pad: Super slim and looks great, but wait—no, you'll only get 12W max here. It’s cheap, but you’ll be waiting forever if you’re in a rush.
  • Belkin BoostCharge Pro 15W: Well-built, but again, capped at EPP speeds for Pixels. Honestly, just spend the $70 on the official stand—it's the only way to get the performance you're actually looking for.

To add to the point above: I’m no expert but I just looked into this last week—found some crazy detailed Reddit threads—and basically, the Google Pixel Stand 2nd Gen is the only way to hit 23W. I was checking out the Anker 315 Wireless Charger Pad because it's way more affordable, but—wait, no—it’s significantly slower since it just uses standard EPP. Official Google support docs confirm you need their specific tech for real speed.

So funny you ask this — last summer I tested these. Building on the earlier suggestion, what is your desk setup?

Buy Google.

So funny you ask this — last summer I was spiraling over this exact thing with my new Pro. IIRC Google uses some proprietary tech so its honestly a headache...

  • generic pads usually stick to 12W
  • you need specific tech for the full 23W
  • third party EPP is slower tbh Not 100% sure but I think you gotta go official if you really want that SPEED.
