What are the actual best fast chargers and power banks for the Pixel 8 right now? Im trying to get my gear sorted before a backpacking trip through Europe in three weeks and the info online is all over the place. I saw people on Reddit saying I have to buy the official Google 30W plug for the fastest speeds but then some tech blogs say any PD 3.0 PPS charger works just fine. Its kinda confusing because I see these 65W Anker blocks and I dont know if theyll actually charge faster or if its just a waste of money for this specific phone. My budget is around $80 for both and I really need something compact that wont die on me mid-trip...

Regarding what #2 said about the heat and older outlets... Totally agree. I once fried a cheap generic block in a London hostel and it was a nightmare. Be careful with off-brand ones. For your budget, maybe consider the Iniu 10000mAh Power Bank 22.5W. It is way cheaper than big brands but reliable. I also trust the Samsung 25W Wall Charger EP-TA800 since it stays cool in those cramped hotel outlets.

Honestly, you can totally skip the official Google brick. I've been using a third-party setup for months and I'm super satisfied with the speeds. The Pixel 8 maxes out at about 27W, so those massive 65W blocks wont actually charge the phone faster, they just have extra juice for laptops. To get the Rapidly Charging text, you just need a charger that supports USB-PD 3.0 with PPS. That PPS part is the secret sauce for Pixels. Heres what I'd grab for your trip:

Had a second to think about your trip more while checking my own gear. In my experience, you really want to be careful with those super high wattage blocks because they can get surprisingly hot in older European outlets. Over the years it became clear that as long as the box says PPS on it, you are golden. The Pixel 8 is picky about its handshake with the charger, so if that tech isnt there, itll just trickle charge.

  • Any of those sleek Ugreen Nexode GaN Charger units are usually a safe bet.
  • For the battery, just get a high-capacity Baseus 20000mAh Power Bank with a digital display.
  • Grab a sturdy Satechi Braided USB-C Cable so it doesnt fray in your bag. Honestly, stick to the big name brands you see everywhere. Too many close calls happen with no-name stuff from Amazon that ends up melting or just stopping mid-trip. Better to spend a little more for peace of mind when youre halfway across the world...
