So I finally upgraded to the Pixel 10 Pro after holding onto my 7 for ages. I usually know my way around a tech setup but I'm actually a bit stumped with the new hardware changes this time around. I bought a cheap tempered glass screen protector off Amazon like I always do but it totally kills the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor performance and its driving me crazy. Plus with the new Qi2 support or whatever they are calling the magnetic charging now I'm worried about interference with the compass when I'm out hiking. I'm heading to Zion next month and I really need a solid setup that wont fail on me while I'm navigating trails. I've got about 150 bucks set aside to get a good case, a screen protector that actually works with the biometric sensor, and maybe a magnetic power bank that doesnt overheat the phone in 20 minutes. I usually swear by Spigen but I've heard mixed things about their current fit for the 10 series. Does anyone have specific recommendations for a screen protector that doesnt ruin the haptics or the scanner? Also looking for a rugged case that isnt too bulky for pocket carry. What are you guys using for your 10 Pro?
> I bought a cheap tempered glass screen protector... it totally kills the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor performance Be careful with the glass thickness on those cheap kits. I'd suggest ZAGG InvisibleShield Glass Elite for Pixel 10 Pro since they actually test for the ultrasonic scanner. For Zion, you might want to consider OtterBox Symmetry Series for Pixel 10 Pro. It's rugged but slim. Also, watch out for the compass... magnets can throw off your bearings if you're using a Belkin BoostCharge Magnetic Wireless Power Bank 5K while hiking.
Make sure to test your compass with any magnetic gear before your hike. I once had a case mess up my GPS orientation, so I'm always wary.
Stoked for your Zion trip! Quick question, are you doing technical scrambles or just easy trails?
