Upgrading from a cracked iPhone 13 Pro and I'm worried about the Pixel 9 Pro XL's size. My logic was to get a Spigen, but I read they’re bulky. Dbrand seems better—maybe?—but does it protect the screen? I need something slim for the camera bar. Which glass screen protectors actually work with the fingerprint sensor?

So funny you ask this — last summer I dropped my previous phone on a concrete boat ramp and the screen shattered despite having a basic silicone cover. When I got the Pixel 9 Pro XL, I spent $150 testing three different setups to find one that wasn't bulky. I found that the Mous Limitless 5.0 Aramid Fibre is the best balance for this specific phone size. It costs $65. It provides a 2mm raised lip around the camera bar which prevents scratches when you set it down. It is thinner than the Spigen options you mentioned but uses high-impact material. For the screen, the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is the main hurdle. Most cheap tempered glass will fail. I installed the Whitestone Dome Glass UV Gen which retails for $35 for a two-pack. It uses liquid adhesive cured by a UV light. This method ensures there is no air gap, so the sensor works at 100% speed. If you want something even thinner, the Bellroy Leather Case for Pixel 9 Pro XL at $55 is very sleek. It has a minimal footprint but less drop protection than the Mous. My takeaway is to prioritize the Whitestone protector because the fingerprint sensor is useless with standard adhesive glass.
