Upgrading from the OnePlus 8 Pro. My old phone is falling apart—battery is dead and the screen is delaminating. I just got the OnePlus 12 but the design is a bit of a curveball. That camera island is huge. It looks like a magnet for scratches or a total shatter if it hits the ground wrong.
I've used plenty of cases over the years, usually Spigen or Ringke. The OP12 feels different though. It's slippery and the curved glass makes finding a decent lip height difficult. I need real protection, not just a thin skin. I’m looking for something rugged but I don't want a massive Otterbox that ruins the ergonomics.
Budget is open. My main priorities are the camera glass and drop safety. I’ve noticed a lot of cases have a wide-open cutout for the camera that doesn’t actually protect the edges of the glass. That seems like a design flaw. I also need it to work with the 50W wireless charger, so it can't be too thick on the back.
I've looked at the official Aramid case but it looks way too thin for a drop on concrete. Has anyone tried the Athlex or something from UAG? I need to know if they actually sit flush or if they're awkward with the screen protector. What are the best protective cases for the OnePlus 12 that actually handle that camera bump?
Ive been through three of these glass slabs. Spigen was garbage years ago, but Poetic Guardian Case for OnePlus 12 actually seals the camera island edges. Lowkey handles drops without being HUGE.
Caseology Athlex for OnePlus 12 provides the best grip for the slippery glass. The lip around the camera island is deep enough to protect the edges. For more drop safety, TUDIA DualShield Grip for OnePlus 12 has better corner protection. I am not sure if these fit every screen protector, but both work with the 50W wireless charger. They are more rugged than the official Aramid case.
