I’m finally ditching my Pixel 7 Pro. Honestly fed up with the "fast" charging taking two hours while the phone gets hot enough to fry an egg. It's ridiculous. Switching to the OnePlus 13 for the battery and camera, but the charging situation is confusing. I know they use SUPERVOOC. So I was thinking about just grabbing a random 100W GaN charger. But my logic says it won't actually hit top speeds without the proprietary tech. I'm stuck. My budget is flexible, but I don't want a drawer full of bricks that don't work. I checked the official site, but they're always sold out or overpriced. Do I have to buy the official OnePlus brick to get the advertised 100W, or are there third-party ones from Anker or Ugreen that actually work? I'm tired of waiting for a full charge. Which fast chargers are recommended for the OnePlus 13 that won't throttle down?
Regarding what #1 said about "ngl you need the official brick for the..." - it is a hardware requirement for 100W. This question appears frequently. OnePlus uses a proprietary low-voltage, high-current system. Standard chargers from Anker or Ugreen use high-voltage Power Delivery (PD), which the OnePlus 13 throttles to 18W or 27W to prevent overheating. To get the advertised speeds, you must use hardware that supports the SUPERVOOC protocol:
ngl you need the official brick for the full 100W. Standard PD chargers from brands like Anker lowkey throttle to 18W or 27W because they lack the proprietary SUPERVOOC handshake. I learned from Reddit that even a high-end 100W GaN charger won't work for top speeds. tbh it's a hardware lock. Get the OnePlus SuperVOOC 100W Dual Port Power Adapter. It's the only one that hits the advertised 0-100% in under 30 minutes. If that's sold out, the OPPO 100W SuperVOOC Power Adapter uses the exact same tech and works fine. idk if this applies to your exact model yet but sometimes Realme 100W SuperDart Charger works too since it's the same parent company. Don't waste money on standard USB-C bricks for this phone if speed is your main priority. Most third-party options will just leave you waiting for hours like the Pixel did.
