Regarding what #2 said about "Re: "Oh man, this is exactly my thing—I've...", everyone recommends official bricks but they are often overpriced. I use a Anker 715 Charger Nano II 65W. It charges at 27W via standard PD, which is fast enough and runs cooler. Check the database at ChargerLAB for actual power delivery graphs. You do not need the expensive SuperVOOC brick if you are on a budget.

Oh man, this is exactly my thing—I've tested so many! Since you're on a budget, you definitely need the specific SuperVOOC protocol—wait, I mean generic USB-PD chargers work, but they're painfully slow.

Anyway, bottom line is stick to SuperVOOC.

  • Look, I have spent 25 years in a shop fixing people's mistakes. You see it with car batteries constantly. People use the wrong charger and then wonder why the cells cook. Listen, I have seen the same thing with these phones. I went through three different "fast" chargers before I realized the protocol is the only thing that matters. <a href=" https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw= OnePlus+uses+a+proprietary+h&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p4624852.m570.l1311&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5337998953&customid=22&toolid=10001&mkevt=1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus uses a proprietary handshake. If the brick does not have the specific controller chip, the phone will not pull more than 18 or 27 watts. It is like trying to run a high-torque impact wrench on a tiny home compressor. I finally bought the <a href=" https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw= OnePlus+SuperVOOC+100W+Power+Adapter&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p4624852.m570.l1311&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5337998953&customid=22&toolid=10001&mkevt=1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus SuperVOOC 100W Power Adapter because it manages the heat at the brick instead of the phone. That is how you keep the battery from degrading. My battery health has stayed at 100% for a year. I also keep an <a href=" https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw= OPPO+80W+SuperVOOC+Flash+Charger&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p4624852.m570.l1311&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5337998953&customid=22&toolid=10001&mkevt=1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OPPO 80W SuperVOOC Flash Charger in my toolbox. Do not use a generic cable. It lacks the pin for the handshake.
