Building on the earlier suggestion, I'd be really careful with those super thin cases on a trail. You might want to consider the Caseology Athlex for Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Active Grip instead. Its got a rough texture so it wont slide out of your hand, plus it's usually under $25. Better to spend a little on protection now than a ton on a screen repair later, ya know?

I've been hiking with giant slabs of glass for years and the biggest lesson I learned was after my old phone tumbled down a granite ledge. Like someone mentioned, corners are where the energy transfers. I used to go for those paper-thin cases because I hated the bulk, but one jagged rock taught me that thin is just a fancy word for unprotected in the wild. In my experience, you want a dual-layer setup. The inner TPU absorbs the shock and the hard shell keeps the frame from bending. I've used the Spigen Tough Armor for Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Black for my last few upgrades. Its got that yellow impact foam inside that actually makes a difference on rocky trails. Its thick, yeah, but its way cheaper than a $300 screen repair. Quick tip: Look for a case with a lanyard hole. Dropping it is one thing, but not dropping it at all because its tethered to your wrist is even better. TL;DR: Avoid the ultra-thin stuff for the mountains. Get the Spigen Tough Armor for the dual-layer protection and air cushion tech.

Yo, congrats on the S26 Ultra! Hiking trips are the ultimate stress test for these massive phones. Ive been through dozens of cases over the years and honestly, for a mountain trail, you gotta prioritize corner protection above everything else. Ringke is awesome for the office because they keep things slim, but their standard cases usually lack the deep air cushioning you need when a phone bounces off a jagged rock or gravel. In my experience, the Spigen Tough Armor Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Dual Layer Kickstand is the gold standard for your budget. Yeah, its a bit thicker, but the foam tech inside actually absorbs impact better than anything else under fifty bucks. If you really cant stand the bulk tho, check out the Ringke Onyx Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Rugged Grip. It has this sand-like texture that makes it super hard to drop in the first place, even with sweaty hands or gloves on. Tbh, I would grab the Spigen for the hike and maybe swap to something thinner for daily use later. A cracked screen on a trail is a nightmare, trust me... I have seen people lose their whole weekend over a simple fumble while trying to take a summit selfie. Just make sure whatever you get has a decent lip to protect that screen. If you need more specs on drop ratings just ask, always down to nerd out over gear.
