I literally just pre-ordered the S26 Ultra and I am lowkey panicking because I realized it doesn't come with a brick anymore and I only have these old slow USB-A blocks from like 2019. I've been looking at the Anker 735 or the 737 but then I read a thread saying Samsung's 45W PPS protocol is super picky and third party chargers might not even hit the Super Fast Charging 2.0 speed which is like the whole point of buying this beast of a phone right?
My logic was that Anker is more reliable and I could use it for my laptop too but people keep saying it only does 25W on Samsungs unless it has very specific specs and now Im staring at my cart just totally lost. I have a big trip to Tokyo in 20 days and I really need a solution that wont fry my $1300 phone while I'm at the airport or stuck in a hotel with weird outlets. My budget is around 50 bucks but I can go higher if it means my battery wont degrade in six months.
Is the official Samsung 45W brick really the only safe bet or are there actually good alternatives that wont take three hours to hit 100%? I saw some Ugreen stuff too but the reviews are all over the place and some say it gets way too hot which makes me even more nervous...
The PPS protocol is definitely a bit annoying to navigate, but you dont need to spend a fortune to get the full 45W speeds. Basically, the S26 Ultra needs a charger that specifically supports 4.05A at 11V. Most generic fast chargers only hit 3A, which is why people get stuck at 25W. Since you're on a budget and heading to Japan soon, these are the most reliable options imo:
I am totally obsessed with GaN power specs! To get the S26 Ultra to SFC 2.0, you need the 5A PPS profile. These are amazing alternatives:
Sadly, my Ugreen brick was super disappointing and ran kind of hot. Are you charging a laptop too? If not, Spigen ArcStation Pro 45W GaN Wall Charger handles the PPS requirement perfectly tbh.
