How often does Kohl's lower prices on clearance items?

OMG I just hit the jackpot at my local Kohls in Ohio and I am literally shaking because they have these Nike hoodies on the clearance rack for 60% off right now. I have like $50 total to spend for my nephews birthday next month so I am torn between two moves here.

  • I could just grab two of them right now and be done with it
  • Or I could gamble and wait for them to drop to 70 or 80 percent and maybe get three or four items?

I really want to maximize my $50 but I dont want to lose out if they sell out tomorrow. Does anyone know if they have a specific schedule for when those yellow stickers get updated? Like is it every two weeks or just random??

Re: "> Or I could gamble and wait"

  • I have been shopping the clearance racks at Kohls for years and honestly, I am usually very satisfied with the 60 percent mark. Nike is tricky tho because its one of those brands that people hover over. If youre looking for technical details on how they do things, here is what I have seen work well:
  • The Markdown Cycle: Most stores do their price adjustments every two to three weeks. They usually start these on Sunday nights or Monday mornings. If the rack is full now, you might have a week, but Nike items rarely last past the first few days of a 60 percent drop.
  • The Tag Check: Look at the top right of the yellow sticker. Sometimes there is a small code that indicates if its a final markdown or if its gonna drop again, but that is getting harder to find lately.
  • Stacking: Since you have a strict $50 budget, check your Kohls Rewards account. Even if Nike is excluded from the standard 15 or 20 percent coupons, you can still use Kohls Cash on them. I have found that grabbing the two hoodies now is the most methodical way to handle a gift situation. Waiting for 80 percent on premium brands like Nike usually ends in disappointment because resellers often sweep the racks before the price even hits that low. I have always been happy just locking in the deal when I see it rather than coming back to an empty rack later.

> Or I could gamble and wait I wouldnt risk it. Nike gear usually sells out way before it hits 80 percent. Better to just get the two items now than walk away with nothing later.
