Im trying to help my nan get her new flat sorted in Manchester and she really needs a bunch of kitchen stuff like a matching kettle and toaster set plus an air fryer and some basic utensils. Ive got a budget of around £300 for her and Ive spent ages on the Amazon UK site picking out specific items that arent too heavy for her to lift but also look nice with her decor. The problem is I am currently at my own place and she wants to pay for them herself using her own Amazon account but she is absolutely terrible with technology and there is no way she can find these exact items if I just send her a list of names or links.
I did a bit of googling and found some people saying you can use the Wish List feature but that seems like a massive faff because then she has to add each individual item from the list to her cart one by one and she will definitely mess that up or buy two of something by accident. Then I saw this thing called Share-a-Cart which is a browser extension but Im a bit wary of telling her to install random plugins especially when she is gonna be putting her bank details in right after. Is that actually safe or is there a better way that is built into the site?
I also looked into Amazon Household but we dont live together and I dont really want to link our whole accounts just for one shopping trip. It feels like there should just be a share button on the basket page but I cant find it anywhere. Maybe I am just blind? Has anyone found a way to just generate a single link that populates someone elses basket with everything Ive already picked out? I really need to get this ordered by Tuesday so it arrives before I go up to visit her and help her unpack everything...
I dealt with this exact mess when my brother moved. Amazon is weirdly restrictive about cart sharing. That Share-a-Cart extension is actually the most efficient tool for this. I looked at the technical specs and it just captures ASIN codes and quantities. Since it doesnt touch the payment gateway or bank details, it is pretty safe imo. You can generate the link on your side and she just clicks to load her basket...
