Recommendation for a high-quality glass screen protector for Google Pixel 8a?

Ugh I am honestly so over these cheap tempered glass packs you find on Amazon that swear they fit the Pixel 8a but then leave that massive gap or a weird bubble ring around the edges. It is driving me crazy. So my logic was to just spend more money and get a name brand one but even that is getting confusing. I looked at the Spigen AlignMaster since I usually trust them but half the reviews say the black border actually covers up part of the actual screen pixels? Like why would they design it that way?

Then I checked out the dbrand ones but they are like 30 bucks plus shipping and I need this by Friday before I head out on a camping trip in Oregon. I really dont want to wait two weeks for shipping just to find out it also has issues with the fingerprint scanner. I already feel like the 8a sensor is a bit touchy compared to my old phone. Does anyone actually have one on their phone right now that fits perfectly without the halo effect and doesnt ruin the screen clarity? I just want something that feels like the actual glass and wont peel off the second I put my case on...

Unfortunately, I had issues with almost every brand I tried before settling on something decent. Most cheap ones are not as good as expected and ruin the scanner. I finally just went with the amFilm OneTouch Google Pixel 8a Tempered Glass Screen Protector. It fits much better than Spigen and actually lets the fingerprint sensor work properly, which is rare for this phone.

Regarding what #3 said about "I've been dealing with these for years and..."

  • I totally feel that pain. Ive wasted a ton of cash on junk over the years. If you need it for your camping trip, check out OtterBox Trusted Glass for Google Pixel 8a. Its super reliable for outdoors stuff and wont mess with the fingerprint sensor like the thick cheap ones do. No annoying black border either.

I've gone through many protectors over the years and that Spigen border thing is real, it's so annoying. In my experience, if you want that actual glass feel, go with the Whitestone Dome Glass EA Screen Protector for Pixel 8a.

  • Clear edges, no black border
  • Fingerprint sensor works great
  • Easy alignment tray I've got one right now and it's basically invisible. Just toggle on screen protector mode in settings.

I've been dealing with these for years and honestly, most brands are just not as good as expected lately. I had issues with three different protectors before trying ZAGG InvisibleShield Glass Elite for Pixel 8a. It is pricier, but it actually fits without that stupid border. Since you're in a rush, check Best Buy nearby. Just re-register your prints after it is on so the scanner doesnt act up.
