I just got my pre-order in for the S26 and honestly I'm a bit stumped on the case situation this year. I've been a die-hard Spigen Tough Armor guy since my S8 days but the new camera array layout is making me nervous because the lenses look way more exposed than on my old S24. I was looking at some of the early listings on Amazon but half of them look like cheap dropshipped junk and I dont want to risk it with a $1200 phone especially since Im headed to the Rockies for a week of hiking next month and need something that can actually handle a drop on granite.
Also has anyone noticed the magnet placement seems slightly off compared to the S25 cases? I tried snapping my old magnetic wallet onto a demo unit at the store and it felt weak so I’m wondering if Samsung shifted the coils or if the case manufacturers just havent figured it out yet. I really need something that works with my Peak Design car mount because I use it for GPS constantly.
Is there anything out yet that actually has a decent lip for the screen and real protection for those huge lenses without being a brick? My budget is around 50 or 60 bucks max. Are we still looking at UAG or has anyone tried those newer brands like Mous or Dbrand lately? I've heard mixed things about the Grip cases being too sandpaper-y but the protection looks solid...
> handle a drop on granite. @Reply #1 - good point! Ringke Onyx Magnetic Case for Samsung Galaxy S26 is a solid budget move. It has crazy grip and magnets work great tho.
Dude, you definitely gotta check out Mous! I switched last year and its been a total game-changer for hiking. The magnets are crazy strong.
Im late to the party but I've gotta chime in because I literally just dropped my phone on a trail last month and it was stressful as hell. Ngl, those granite rocks do not play around! Re: "> handle a drop on granite. @Reply #1..." - that is basically the ultimate stress test for any case. I used to be a total minimalist with cases but after one bad slip, I switched to stuff with actual mechanical protection. Since you're hitting the Rockies, you should definitely look into something that covers those lenses completely.
