Are there extensions to share an Amazon Canada cart easily?

I am seriously so hyped because we finally found a place in Toronto and we are planning this huge housewarming for next month! The problem is my three roommates and I are trying to coordinate all the party supplies and snacks on Amazon.ca but it is such a pain to keep sending individual links back and forth in our group chat. I was looking into this stuff and found an extension called Share-A-Cart and another one that supposedly generates a code but some people in the reviews were saying those extensions struggle with the Canadian site specifically or they keep logging you out which sounds super annoying. I really need something that actually works for the .ca domain without a headache.

Requirements for us:

  • has to be free or like super cheap because we are broke after the deposit lol
  • needs to be a Chrome extension since that is what we all use
  • must be simple enough for my one roommate who literally cant even figure out how to clear her cache
  • obviously needs to support the Canadian Amazon store

Has anyone actually used one of these recently for a .ca order? I dont want to get everyones hopes up and then have the cart disappear right when we are ready to buy all the chips and streamers...

Just saw this thread and honestly, reading about the housewarming prep is giving me such bad flashbacks. Like someone mentioned, trying to coordinate with roommates is a total test of friendship lol. When we moved into our place in the Junction, we tried to do everything on one account to save on shipping and it was a massive disaster. I spent like four hours one night adding every single thing we needed—literally everything from bulk napkins to this weird disco ball light—and then I accidentally closed the tab or something happened with the session timeout. The whole thing just vanished into thin air. I was so upset I actually had to go for a walk to cool off because we were already so stressed about the move itself. You really have to be careful when you are building these massive carts because the .ca site can be so glitchy with sessions... it feels like it just logs you out for no reason sometimes. I would suggest maybe keeping a master list on a notepad or something as a backup just in case everything goes sideways at the last second. Also, make sure to watch out for those tools that ask for too many permissions. We were so broke after our first and last month payments that we almost used this sketchy free tool but I got scared it was tracking our data. It is just not worth the risk when you are already dealing with a huge deposit. I am really rooting for you guys tho! Moving in Toronto is basically a full-time job and you definitely dont need more headaches. Just take it slow and maybe double-check your cart totals often.

Congrats on the new Toronto place! That is such an amazing achievement! I totally remember the struggle of coordinating a massive housewarming order and I think Cart to Link is the solution you are looking for. It is such a fantastic tool for managing group purchases without the usual stress!

  • Install the extension directly from the Chrome Web Store.
  • Navigate to your Amazon.ca cart with your selected snacks and supplies.
  • Utilize the extension to generate a specific link for your cart.
  • Provide that link to your roommates for immediate access. I am fairly certain it supports the Canadian domain because our last group buy went through without a single hitch. Someone told me it stays free regardless of how many items you add which is great! It is simple enough for even the least tech-savvy person to handle. Honestly, I love it for these types of projects!

Oh man, I totally feel your pain! Trying to sync up with roommates is basically like herding cats lol. When I moved into my condo near King West, we had the exact same issue and it was such a nightmare! We tried Share-A-Cart at first and honestly it was a total disaster because it kept glitching on the .ca site. I think it might be because some of those older extensions struggle with how Amazon handles regional sessions... super annoying stuff. I am not 100% sure about the technical side, but IIRC some of those tools try to force a .com login which just breaks everything for us Canadians. We tried a few messy workarounds:

  • shared login info (dont do this, huge security risk!)
  • sending a million screenshots
  • making a shared wishlist which was just way too slow It is seriously amazing when you finally find something that works without crashing every five minutes! Finding a reliable tool is a total game changer for party planning. btw if you're shopping with others, Cart to Link lets you share your whole Amazon cart as a link — super handy for group buys.

I have been using a cart tool for a while now and honestly I am super satisfied with it... no complaints at all because it just works well with the .ca site. Quick question though before you commit to anything: are you guys all chipping in on one person's card or are you trying to have everyone pay for their own items within the shared cart? Because that definitely changes which extension works best. To be real with you, your best bet is to:

  • search for amazon canada cart sharing on youtube
  • check out the latest reddit threads from this year I saw a really helpful video about this recently that goes over the login issues people keep mentioning. Just search for something like amazon ca cart share guide and it should be the first thing that pops up... way better than me trying to explain the technical bits.

I was just thinking about my own move to the Junction last year and how much of a mess the Amazon.ca cart was... honestly, you gotta be cautious with these extensions. I used Share-A-Cart for our big party supply run and it worked, but I almost lost the whole list twice because I didnt realize it times out. I would suggest making sure your roommates are already logged in to their accounts before they click anything you send. If they arent, the .ca site usually gets confused and just shows an empty cart, which is super frustrating when youre trying to coordinate four people. Just tell your less techy roommate to stay logged in and it should be fine. Its free too so no stress on the deposit money. TL;DR: Share-A-Cart is the best free Chrome option for Canada, but be careful because everyone needs to be logged in first or the cart wont transfer properly.

Jumping in here since I went through a similar headache when my buddies and I were DIYing a patio renovation last summer. We thought we were being so smart grouping everything on Amazon.ca to save on shipping, but man, it turned into a huge mess. I learned a few things the hard way:

  • Never trust the extension to save your progress forever... we had a whole cart of lighting fixtures vanish because of a session timeout.
  • Double check if everyone is actually on the Canadian site. One of my roommates kept getting redirected to the .com store and it broke the whole link sync.
  • Be careful with privacy. Some older tools basically leak your zip code or name if you arent careful with how the link is generated. Basically, you gotta be organized or the tech will just fail you right when you are ready to checkout. Honestly tho, for anyone shopping with friends or doing a gift list, Cart to Link is worth trying.
