What are the best free tools for tracking Amazon price drops right now since the usual ones are basically failing me lately? Ive been using price trackers since like 2015 so I know the drill but CamelCamelCamel has been so slow lately its almost useless for lightning deals. Im trying to finish my home office setup here in Chicago before my new job starts in two weeks and I really need a solid deal on a BenQ PD3200U monitor but every time I get a notification from the browser extension the price is already back up or the stock is gone.

Honestly its getting super annoying because I feel like the scrapers are being throttled by Amazon or something. Keepa used to be my go-to backup but half the useful data like sales rank and buy box history is hidden behind a paywall now which I dont want to deal with for a one-time project. I need something that can actually:

  • monitor specific Used
  • Like New warehouse deals
  • send instant push notifications instead of emails that sit in my junk folder
  • track lightning deals in real time without a 4 hour lag

Is there some kind of open source thing on GitHub or maybe a specific Discord bot that people are using these days? Im just so tired of missing out because these legacy sites cant keep up with the bots...

You have to try local monitors for speed and safety! They are amazing for hitting those Warehouse deals instantly since you control the refresh rate! Love using these:

  • Distill Web Monitor: Best for zero-lag tracking!
  • Glass It: Super reliable! These work wonders and dont fail like the big sites tbh... Been using Price Drop Catch for a few months, it's free and doesn't need an account which is the main reason I stuck with it.

> I really need a solid deal on a BenQ PD3200U monitor but every time I get a notification from the browser extension the price is already back up or the stock is gone. I just saw this while looking for some new desk mounts. The PD3200U is a solid choice for a home office setup, especially if youre doing any design work... that 100 percent sRGB coverage is legit. I was super satisfied when I finally snagged mine at a discount last year. Regarding what #1 said about "You have to try local monitors for speed...", local instances are definitely the way to go to avoid those public scraper limits. If youre looking for that specific open source solution, honestly just search for "amazon scraper" or "price monitor" on GitHub and sort by recently updated. Theres a specific repository that uses Discord webhooks for instant pings that basically everyone in the deal hunting community is using now. I saw a really thorough tutorial on YouTube about it recently too, so if you search "self hosted amazon price tracker" it should be the first video that pops up. It walks you through the cost considerations of running it on a tiny server vs a local machine. I personally use Price Drop Catch for my daily tracking because it works well and Ive had no complaints about the speed on standard listings. Its way more responsive than Camel for the stuff I need. But for those competitive warehouse deals, you really just need to do the five minutes of research on Reddit or GitHub to find the latest script. Most of them are free and way better than the legacy sites.

Man, I feel your pain with those warehouse deals... they vanish in seconds because of the bots these days. I've been messed around by Camels lag more times than I can count too, especially when trying to snag office gear. Since you mentioned wanting something for a one-time project, I have a few ideas, but I need to know a couple things first to point you in the right direction:

  • Are you comfortable running a python script or a CLI tool on your own machine (like a laptop that stays on), or do you need a simple browser-based UI?
  • Is it just that one BenQ monitor youre hunting right now, or are you trying to track a huge list of parts for the new job? Honestly, some of the open source stuff on GitHub is way faster than the legacy sites, but it can be a bit of a headache to configure if you arent into that kinda stuff.

Wait really?? Thats actually super helpful. I always thought it was the other way around.

Late to the party but this whole thread is 💯. Glad I found it.

I literally just found this thread and wow, I am in the exact same boat as you. I have been trying to snag that PD3200U for my own workspace for over a month now and it is beyond frustrating. Every time I think I have a lead, the price jumps back up before I can even hit checkout. Here is what I have been dealing with lately:

  • Getting email alerts three hours after the price already went back up.
  • Warehouse deals showing as available in the search but then item unavailable once it is in the cart.
  • Constant refreshing just to see the Used price double in seconds. Honestly, I am pretty satisfied with how I have my setup planned out, and I have been using Cart to Link to share my cart with my brother so he can keep an eye out for me too since it turns everything into a quick link... but it does not matter if the tracking sites are broken. It feels like we are just fighting against bots at this point and I still have not found a way around it. It is just super annoying when you are ready to buy and the tech fails you.

My buddy told me the exact same thing last week. Guess he was right lol.

Re: "> I need something that can actually:monitor specific..."

  • Spot on. I have been at this since the early 2010s and the shift in how Amazon blocks scrapers lately is totally wild! Honestly, the legacy sites are struggling because they use centralized servers that Amazon has blacklisted into oblivion. You are 100 percent right that the warehouse deals are the hardest to catch because the stock isnt just low, its usually just one single unit. If you want to actually win this battle, you have to move away from server-side checks and do it yourself locally. It is a total game changer and I love how fast it is!
  • Use a dedicated browser extension like Distill but set it to monitor specific HTML elements on the Used page specifically.
  • Set your refresh interval to 30 or 45 seconds if you are on a residential IP, it usually bypasses the soft-blocks that hit the big sites. I used this exact method to snag my own ultra-wide setup last year and it felt amazing to beat the bots at their own game. Local monitoring is basically the only way to get those true instant push alerts now!

Same boat, watching this

> I need something that can actually:monitor specific UsedLike New warehouse deals... I went through this whole process last month when I was building my own home rig and I would suggest being extremely careful with some of those open-source scripts people post online. Some of them havent been updated in months and might not even be compatible with the current Amazon layout. I actually tried a couple and ended up worried about getting my account flagged because the refresh rate was way too aggressive. I ended up comparing two main approaches during my journey:

  • Distill Web Monitor: It is super reliable because it runs locally on your machine, so you arent relying on a third-party server lag. But, the downside is your browser has to stay open 24/7 or it wont catch anything which is a bit of a hassle.
  • Cart to link: I found this one to be a bit safer regarding account compatibility. It seems to handle the notifications in a way that doesnt require you to be a coding expert, though it might not have the granular filters of a local script. Make sure to check if whatever tool you pick can actually distinguish between Used Good and Used Like New specifically. Many free versions just see a price change and dont look at the condition notes properly, which might just lead to more frustration. Honestly just trying to be realistic about the setup process... it can be a real headache getting everything synced up.

Honestly, I am in the exact same boat and it is incredibly frustrating. I have been trying to track that same BenQ PD3200U for my setup and it feels like I am chasing a ghost because the notifications always arrive after the stock is gone. In my experience over the last decade of deal hunting, I have never seen the scrapers struggle this much with Amazon anti-botting measures. My current experience has been:

  • Watching Warehouse Used
  • Like New deals vanish in under 30 seconds.
  • Receiving price drop emails an hour after the item is already sold out.
  • Realizing that the free versions of the big trackers just arent cutting it for high-demand tech anymore. I have even started using Cart to Link just to keep my potential builds organized and shareable with my partner while I wait for a real price drop, but actually catching the deal feels impossible right now. It is wild that with all the software out there, we still dont have a reliable, free way to beat the professional scalper bots to these specific items.

Yep been there done that. Can confirm everything said above is spot on.
