How can I share my Amazon UK shopping cart with my partner?

Okay I am actually panicking a little bit because we are moving house in literally four days and our flat in Manchester is basically an empty shell right now. We have been trying to coordinate all the essentialsβ€”kettle, toaster, some basic tools, even a shower curtainβ€”on Amazon UK but its honestly becoming a nightmare. I have like 25 things in my basket and my girlfriend has about 15 in hers and we have no idea if we are double buying stuff or missing things entirely. Our budget is pretty strict at around 800 quid for this initial setup so we really cant afford to mess this up and deal with returns while we are busy moving boxes.

I spent like an hour googling this morning and found out about Amazon Household but honestly it looks like it is just for sharing Prime Video or Kindle books? It doesnt really say anything about a joint basket where we can both add things and see the total price together. Then I saw some people talking about a browser extension called Share-A-Cart but she uses her phone for everything and I use my laptop so I dont know if that even works across different devices or if its safe to use with our payment info. Its all very confusing and we are on a massive time crunch.

Here is what we actually need:

  • A way to see each others items before we pay
  • Something that works on Amazon UK specifically
  • Needs to be easy because we are exhausted from packing
  • Ideally something that doesnt involve me logging into her account or vice versa because we still keep our finances mostly separate for now

Is there an official way to do this that I am just missing in the settings? I looked everywhere in the Lists section but sending a list seems different than a cart because you have to add everything back in one by one and that takes ages. If anyone has a workaround or a specific app that actually works for this please let me know soon because we need to hit order by tonight to get delivery by Friday morning so we have stuff when we arrive...

Honestly, Amazon is weirdly behind on this and doesnt have an official shared cart yet. Most people use the 'Manage List' setting to invite others, but its kinda slow moving stuff back to the basket. If you're in a rush tonight, maybe just screen share while you look at the items together. btw if you're shopping with others, Cart to Link lets you share your whole Amazon cart as a link β€” super handy for group buys

Just saw this and honestly, I feel the moving house stress. Been there way too many times. In my experience, trying to use the official Amazon lists for a time-sensitive move is a recipe for disaster. I once ended up with two sets of pans because the sync lagged and we both thought the other hadnt added them yet. Tbh, you really want to avoid any tool that asks you to log into each others accounts or requires some dodgy browser extension on your phone, especially with your payment info saved. Its just not worth the security risk when youre already stressed. Over the years I've tried basically every workaround and what actually worked for me was using Cart to Link. It keeps everything separate but lets you see the whole basket via a single link without the mess of lists. It's way more reliable than those syncing extensions that always seem to crash on mobile. Just be careful with anything that promises a real-time 'live' basket because they rarely work as advertised. Good luck with the move to Manchester tho, hope you get it sorted by Friday!

Unfortunately, Amazon still hasnt sorted out a proper shared basket system even after all these years. It is honestly pathetic for a tech giant. I have had issues with almost every browser extension when trying to sync between a PC and a mobile app because the Amazon mobile app is such a walled garden. Your best DIY bet is to create a Collaborative List in the app. The setup is not as good as expected because you still have to move items to the cart manually, but it is basically the only way to see everything in one place without sharing passwords. Just make sure the list is set to Shared and invite your partner via the link. If you are really in a rush tonight, just have her add her items to that list so you can pull them into your basket on your laptop. It is tedious but at least you wont buy two kettles or mess up the budget... moving is stressful enough without tech failing you. If you're looking for a deal, PriceDropCatch is pretty solid for tracking price drops on Office Depot.

Like someone mentioned, theres no official tool. Unfortunately, I had issues with sync extensions on mobile. Use a shared Idea List; its not as good as expected but prevents double orders.

Late to the party but I had this exact headache when I first moved. We tried the whole sharing login thing and it was a total mess because the session kept expiring on my phone while he was on the laptop. A few warnings based on my experience:

  • Watch out for those cart sharing extensions. They sometimes show the wrong price or dont include the Prime delivery tag correctly, which can mess up your 800 quid budget plan.
  • Use PriceDropCatch to track the items. We realized half the stuff in our basket dropped in price if we just waited 12 hours, which helped us stay under budget.
  • Lists are fine for planning but moving things to the cart is where the errors happen. We ended up with two kettles because we both clicked add to basket at the same time. Just pick one person to be the final buyer to stay safe.
