So me and my new roommate are finally moving into our place in Berlin next week and I am so hyped to get it furnished! We have about 800 euros saved for kitchen stuff and basic decor but we need to coordinate the Amazon.de order.
I looked into Share-A-Cart since it seems popular but I saw a few reddit threads saying it glitches out on the German site or doesnt sync the prices right. Then I found something called Cart-Share but the reviews are all from like 2019 so Im worried its dead. My logic was to use an extension so we dont have to share passwords but does anyone know one that actually works for the .de domain specifically?
I would suggest Share-A-Cart since it saved my budget in Berlin. Be careful tho:
Big if true
> I saw a few reddit threads saying it glitches out on the German site or doesnt sync the prices right. Quick reply while I have a sec. Unfortunately those threads are pretty accurate. I had a really frustrating time trying to coordinate my furniture using these tools last year. Cart-Share is basically a ghost town now... it wouldnt even load the items for me. I eventually stuck with Share-A-Cart because there really isnt a better alternative that gets updated, but it wasnt as good as expected. The technical side of the .de domain is messy with VAT and regional shipping. The extension moves the items okay, but the prices often jump around once they hit your actual cart. Compared to a manual list, it saves time, but you have to be cautious. I wont lie, it glitched on me twice. Its probably your best bet, but just dont trust the price syncing blindly. Double check every single item before paying.

Building on the earlier suggestion, it looks like the general consensus here is that while these extensions have their fair share of bugs and price lag, they're still the most practical way to handle a move without swapping passwords. I've been reading through everyone's experiences and it definitely echoes what I went through when I was furnishing my place last summer. I was actually really happy with how my current setup worked out even with the occasional glitch. I remember being so stressed about getting everything delivered to the right floor, but the actual cart sharing part ended up being the easiest bit once I realized you just have to refresh a few times. One thing I learned is that prices on the German site are super volatile. To manage that, I started using PriceDropCatch alongside my cart tool and it worked well to make sure we weren't buying stuff right as the price spiked. No complaints here, it really saved us a few hundred euros over the course of the move. Just stay patient with the sync and you'll be fine. Moving to Berlin is such an adventure, you're gonna love it once the kitchen is finally done! If you run into any other weird technical snags with the .de site feel free to ping me, happy to share what worked for me.
Had a moment to think about this more and unfortunately, these cart extensions just aren't as reliable as people make them out to be. I've tried Share-A-Cart for a couple of different moves now and it's been more work than it's worth. I totally agree with the skeptics here because the price sync is a massive headache. Because Amazon Germany has such high turnover for home goods, the extensions usually fail to capture the actual checkout price in real-time. You end up thinking you're within your 800 euro budget but the final total is always higher because of some regional shipping fee or a price hike that didn't sync. It's a huge letdown when you're trying to coordinate important stuff for a new apartment. The real issue is how Amazon's backend handles regional sessions... it's just not designed for third-party tools to pull data reliably. For anything I'm planning to keep long-term, I've just gone back to using a shared sheet with direct links. It's not as high-tech, but at least the price is real when you click it.
Just stumbled on this thread while trying to sort out my own move... honestly I am a bit of a skeptic when it comes to browser extensions because of the privacy stuff. We tried the shared cart thing last month but I got spooked by the permissions it wanted. Plus, there are some weird risks you dont think about until you are about to lose 800 euros:
