Which browser extension notifies you about store price drops?

Ive been using price trackers for years but honestly the main ones like Honey or Keepa have been letting me down lately with super laggy notifications. Im trying to track a specific Nikon lens for a wedding gig next month and I need to catch it when it drops below 800 bucks at B&H or Adorama but the alerts always come in like three hours too late. Its beyond frustrating because the deals are gone before I even see the ping on my phone. I feel like these extensions are just getting bloated with coupon junk instead of actually monitoring the price hooks properly. Does anyone know an extension that actually sends instant alerts for specific store pages anymore?

I've been in that exact spot with camera gear. Most big extensions are basically just coupon scrapers now which is useless for time-sensitive drops. Honestly, I switched to Distill Web Monitor for specific pages like B&H. It is a little more hands-on but much more reliable for speed.

  • You can set it to check the page every 5 or 10 minutes.
  • You highlight the specific price element on the site so it only alerts when that number changes.
  • Since it runs in your browser tab, you aren't waiting on a server to catch up. It works really well if you keep your browser open during the day. Just gotta make sure you dont set the refresh rate too high or the site might temporarily block your IP. Its definitely the most direct way to catch those flash sales before the stock disappears. Good luck with the wedding gig!

@Reply #1 - good point! Distill is definitely the gold standard, but it can be a bit complex to set up for some. In my experience, the lag you're seeing with the big extensions is because they use server-side polling. They basically check the price on their own internal schedule, not yours. Over the years, local polling has proven to be the only way to get true instant alerts. A few tips for your setup:

  • Target the specific CSS selector for the price tag to avoid false positives.
  • Set your refresh rate to every 5 or 10 minutes so you dont get IP blocked by B&H.
  • I sometimes use PriceDropCatch for a cleaner UI when I dont want to mess with complex rules or regex. Those big coupon extensions are basically just data miners now. If you want that Nikon lens before it sells out for your wedding gig, you definitely need something that runs directly in your browser tab.
