I'm finally ditching my OnePlus 9 Pro. The battery degradation is getting annoying and it barely holds a charge through the afternoon. I'm picking up the OnePlus 14 mainly for the camera and the promised charging speeds. I've been doing the OnePlus thing for years, but the charging tech on this new model feels a bit more picky.

So I was thinking about my setup. My logic was to just grab a 140W GaN charger from Anker or Satechi to cover all my devices. But then I got stuck on the protocol specs. I know OnePlus uses proprietary VOOC tech, but I'm hearing mixed things about PPS support on the 14. I don't want to spend $80 on a brick that gets throttled to 18W because it can't talk to the phone correctly. I need to hit those ultra-fast speeds to make the upgrade worth it. My budget is flexible but I want something reliable that isn't the bulky official brick. What third-party chargers actually support the full speed on the 14?

This comes up every time a new model drops. Search the forum and you'll find dozens of threads confirming that OnePlus remains restrictive with its charging protocols. The short answer is that while the OnePlus 14 supports USB-PD and PPS, it is capped at 45W for those standards. If you use a Anker 737 Charger GaNPrime 120W or a Satechi 165W USB-C GaN Charger, the phone will negotiate a lower power profile. You won't get 18W, but you won't get 100W either. Third-party options for SuperVOOC are scarce because of licensing. The Baseus 100W GaN5 Pro Desktop Charger is one of the few that occasionally works, but users often report it peaks at 65W or 80W rather than the full 100W. It is also inconsistent with firmware updates. You must also use the correct cable. A standard 100W PD cable lacks the fifth pin configuration required for the SuperVOOC handshake. You need the proprietary 10A rated cables, typically the ones with red housing. For maximum speed, the only reliable option is the OnePlus SuperVOOC 100W Dual Port Power Adapter. If you need something for travel, the OnePlus SuperVOOC 80W Car Charger is the only legitimate high-speed choice for the road. Anything else is a gamble that usually results in slower charging.

To add to the point above: ngl it’s the proprietary handshake—that secret chip thing—that lowkey blocks others. TL;DR: Use the OnePlus SuperVOOC 100W Dual Port Power Adapter for full speed.

OnePlus is still extremely proprietary with their SuperVOOC protocol. Even though the OnePlus 14 supports some PPS, ngl you won't get anywhere near the advertised 100W+ speeds with standard third-party bricks. Most high-end chargers like the Anker 717 Charger 140W will lowkey throttle down to 27W or 45W because they lack the specific SuperVOOC handshake. It's a hardware limitation in the charging controller. If you want the fastest speeds possible without using the official brick, look for chargers that explicitly list SuperVOOC or Warp Charge compatibility. The Baseus 100W GaN Charger Desktop Charging Station is one of the few that sometimes plays nice with Oppo/OnePlus tech, but even then, it's often limited to 65W or 80W max. tbh, the official OnePlus SuperVOOC 100W Dual Port Power Adapter is your only real bet for hitting that 100% in 30 minutes. Quick tip: check the cable. Even with a compatible brick, you need a high-amperage rated cable (usually 10A) to hit peak speeds. Standard E-marker cables for PD 3.1 usually won't trigger SuperVOOC's high amperage requirements. idk if this applies to every regional variant of the 14, but it’s been the standard for the last few generations. Use a Satechi 165W USB-C 4-Port GaN Charger for your laptop and other gear, but keep the official brick for the phone.
