So we're doing this big group gift for a coworker leaving next Friday and I'm the one stuck organizing it. I've been using Amazon UK for years, got my Prime sub and everything, but I've never actually tried to do a joint shopping cart before. We have a budget of about 150 quid and everyone wants to throw in different bits:
I thought there would be a collaborative basket button or something by now but I cant find anything like that in the account settings. I know you can share wish lists, but thats not really the same because I want people to actually put stuff in the cart so I can just hit buy once the total is right. Is there any workaround for this? I really dont want to have to manually copy-paste links from everyone's messages because that's gonna take ages and I'll probably miss something. Is there a way to let others add items to my cart or maybe a browser extension that handles this for the UK site specifically? Or am I just stuck being the manual middleman for this whole thing...
Unfortunately, Amazon UK hasnt implemented a proper collaborative basket, which is quite disappointing. I had issues with this recently and found the setup is not as good as expected for group buys. The best workaround is creating a Shared List. Invite contributors to add the coffee maker and snacks directly. Once finished, you can simply select add all to cart. Its somewhat clunky, but far better than manual copying.
Its really disappointing Amazon hasnt fixed this yet. Agreeing with the list idea because sharing logins is risky.
> I really dont want to have to manually copy-paste links from everyone's messages because that's gonna take ages and I'll probably miss something. Honestly, I feel your pain so much! I was in the exact same boat last Christmas trying to organize a massive hamper for my nan. It was a total nightmare with twelve cousins all messaging me different links at 2 AM... absolute chaos! But then I found this absolute lifesaver. I use Cart to Link whenever I'm doing collaborative shopping now and it is seriously fantastic. Basically, you can just build the cart and then send a single link to everyone. It saves so much time compared to the old copy-paste struggle and ensures you dont miss the specific pods or snacks people want. For the coffee maker and travel mug, just make sure you check the gift options at checkout so you can include a note from the whole team. Honestly, once you use a tool like this, you'll never go back to the manual way! It makes group buying actually fun for once and keeps that 150 quid budget perfectly on track.
