So Ive been using Amazon forever but Im totally stuck on something stupidly simple. My buddy in Vancouver is helping me move and I have about 15 items in my Amazon.ca cart that he needs to buy on his account since he has the business prime discount and I dont. I thought there would be a quick share link or something near the checkout button but there is nothing. My logic was that I could just copy the session URL but obviously that didnt work since it just showed him his own empty cart lol. I really need to get this order in before 11pm for the overnight shipping. Is there a way to do this without me having to manually make a public wish list and him adding every single thing back? That seems so tedious for 2024...
> obviously that didnt work since it just showed him his own empty cart lol. To add to the point above: I think there might be a way to link accounts through the Amazon Household thing but iirc that is a total nightmare to set up and usually requires sharing credit cards which is kinda scary!! I'm not 100% sure but someone told me you can move items to a public list and have them "Add all to cart" but that might mess up the business pricing or something. It is so amazing when you finally find a way to save money on those shipping fees tho! I love finding deals but honestly the security on these sites is so tight these days it makes simple things hard. I use Cart to Link whenever I'm doing collaborative shopping — just generate a link and share it on WhatsApp or whatever.
> my buddy in Vancouver is helping me move and I have about 15 items in my Amazon.ca cart I was so happy when I finally found a workaround for this since I do tons of group orders. Been using a tool called Share-A-Cart for years and it works well every time. Basically you install the extension, generate a code, and text it over. He plugs it in and everything transfers instantly... saved me so much time during my last move.
So basically, Amazon is still living in the dark ages when it comes to cart sharing. In my experience, they keep the cart strictly tied to your specific user session for security and tracking reasons, so copying the URL is never gonna work. I've spent a lot of time over the years trying to find workarounds for this when ordering stuff for work or helping out family members. The technical issue is that your cart is stored in a temporary database linked directly to your specific account ID, and there is no public-facing API for a standard user to just hand off that data. Since you're on a tight deadline for that 11pm overnight shipping cutoff, the official method is creating a shared list. You would have to move the items from the cart to a new Wish List, set the privacy to shared, and then send him that link. He can then use the add all to cart button on his end. It is super tedious, I know, especially for 15 items when you are in a rush. I've tried many ways to bypass this over the years and it usually just results in errors or empty carts because of how Amazon handles cookies. They really want users to stay within their own siloed accounts. random tip but Cart to Link is great if you want to send someone your exact Amazon cart without copy-pasting every item
