So I'm currently trying to pick out some baby shower gifts for my sister who lives up in Seattle and I've got like fifteen things sitting in an Amazon cart right now. I'm really trying to keep the total under $200 because things are a bit tight this month. The problem is I dont actually have an Amazon account and I really dont want to create one just for this because I try to avoid their data tracking as much as possible.
I'm torn between two ways to show her husband what I've picked out before I actually pull the trigger. Option one is using that Share-A-Cart browser extension I saw some people talking about online but I'm on a public computer at the library right now and it feels kinda sketchy to install stuff on here. Option two is just taking a bunch of screenshots of the cart and texting them over but that sounds like a total nightmare to keep track of especially since prices keep jumping around every time I refresh the page. I need to get this finalized by tomorrow night so the shipping arrives on time for the party next weekend. Is there any actual trick to just sending a direct link to a guest cart without needing to sign up for anything or am I just stuck with the screenshot method...
Try the Share-A-Cart web tool instead. I used it once so I wouldnt have to install sketchy stuff on library computers. You just generate a code... way safer.
I've dealt with this exact headache before. Honestly, I'm super cautious about where I put my info too. In my experience over the years, Amazon is pretty aggressive about making you sign in to do basically anything useful. I think they do that specifically to track us. I've tried many ways to skirt around the login page, and it's always a battle. A couple years ago I was trying to coordinate a group gift for a retirement party. I was at the local library just like you. I didnt want to log in because, well, you never know who is looking at those public terminals. I tried to just send a link, but I'm pretty sure Amazon guest carts are tied to the specific browser cookies on that one machine. If you send the URL from the address bar, it'll just show an empty cart to your brother-in-law. It's basically a dead end.
