So I finally bit the bullet and ordered the 16 Pro Max because my current 11 Pro is honestly struggling to get through half a day, like the battery is just completely shot at this point and I find myself carrying a cable everywhere which is super annoying. I keep hearing about this MagSafe thing but honestly im so lost, like do I just stick it on the back and it magicly charges? Sorry if this is a dumb question but theres so many options and I have no clue where to start. Im gonna be using the camera a lot for upcoming trips and stuff so I really need something reliable for when I get back to the hotel.
I have a few requirements though:
Do I need the official apple one or are the cheaper ones on amazon actually fine? I dont wanna ruin my new battery by getting something crappy, any advice?
Building on the earlier suggestion, I actually have to disagree about the brand-name premium. I’ve tested piles of gear, and for budget, you really want the ESR HaloLock Magnetic Wireless Charger 7.5W. It’s way cheaper than anything from a major store shelf but handles heat surprisingly well. Honestly, save your cash for an extra lens or storage. TL;DR: Go with the ESR—it's cheap, solid, and keeps your battery cool while you sleep.
> Do I need the official apple one or are the cheaper ones on amazon actually fine? Look, listen. Don't cheap out on the charging brick. Get the Anker 735 Charger GaNPrime 65W for the wall plug. It uses GaN tech to stay cool. Pair it with the Apple MagSafe Charger 25W. It's built to regulate heat during trickle charging overnight. Cheap knockoffs lack proper thermal sensors. Do it right once.
Congrats on the 16 Pro Max! Honestly, jumping from an 11 Pro is gonna feel like a massive upgrade, especially with that battery life. I was in the exact same spot just last week feeling super lost with all the MagSafe stuff. It feels like magic, but yeah, you just snap it on the back and it starts charging. Im no expert but I did a ton of digging because I didnt wanna fry my battery either... tbh you really dont need to drop a ton of cash on the official Apple one. There are honestly so many solid options out there that wont break the bank. If you want something reliable, I ended up just looking for anything from Anker MagSafe Charger or maybe Belkin MagSafe Charger. Honestly, you cant go wrong with either of those brands. They seem to have the temperature control thing figured out so you dont wake up to a super hot phone. Just stick to a reputable brand and avoid those super cheap no-name ones on Amazon because the quality control is kinda sketchy, and you really dont wanna risk anything with a brand new phone. Just grab a simple puck-style charger from one of those big names and you should be totally fine for your trips. Its super easy, no stress at all...
Ngl, relying on cheap chargers for a phone that costs as much as a used car is a massive gamble. It honestly drives me crazy that we shell out over a grand just to have companies nickel and dime us for accessories that should just work.
