Finally upgrading from my beat-up 12 Pro—the battery life is abysmal and the camera focus is basically dead. Since I’m jumping to the 15 Pro Max, I really want to lean into MagSafe to make life easier, but I’m kinda anxious about the added weight.
I’ve been looking at the Peak Design Mobile Wallet vs. the ESR Geo Wallet. I found a few reviews saying the ESR has better Find My integration, but I’m worried about the bulk. I’ve got a strict $100 budget for accessories right now.
Is the extra Find My tech actually worth the sacrifice in slimness? Oh, also, does anyone know if those magnetic stands actually hold up the Pro Max without tipping over? It's so heavy.
> ^ This. Also, I spent all last week obsessing over this for my own 15 Pro Max. I ended up grabbing the Peak Design Mobile Wallet Slim... I totally agree with that pick. Honestly, just make sure you double-check your magnet alignment before letting go of the phone. I have the Belkin BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1 and it is sturdy, but I still always test the grip first. Better safe than sorry when it comes to that heavy glass!
^ This. Also, I spent all last week obsessing over this for my own 15 Pro Max. I ended up grabbing the Peak Design Mobile Wallet Slim because the Find My bulk on the ESR just felt like too much for my pockets. For the stand, definitely go with the Anker MagGo Magnetic Charging Station, it’s weighted enough to actually hold the phone steady. TL;DR: Slim beats techy, and get a heavy base.
Oh man, you are going to feel such a massive difference coming from that 12 Pro! The Pro Max is definitely a brick, no way around it — especially with a case on. Honestly, skip the heavy "all-in-one" wallet solutions if you're worried about weight. I went down that rabbit hole and learned the hard way that once you hit a certain thickness, the magnets just don't feel as secure when you're pulling it out of tight jeans. Anyway, regarding the Find My integration — if you're someone who constantly leaves your wallet in the couch cushions, it's a lifesaver, but if you're disciplined, that extra bulk is just annoying. Watch out for cheap magnetic stands though; half of them aren't rated for the weight of the Max and will just tip over the second you tap the screen. Stick to something with a wider base!
Just catching up on this thread. Honestly, this comes up a lot—if you want to keep the weight down, ditch the wallet cases entirely. MagSafe wallets add a ton of heft to an already heavy phone.
