Finally biting the bullet and upgrading from my 13 Pro. The battery degradation is getting brutal—it barely survives a commute now—and honestly, the camera housing feels kinda dated. I've looked at some reviews for the 17 Pro, but there's so much noise out there regarding MagSafe compatibility. I saw some folks on Reddit swearing by peak design mounts, but those seem bulky for everyday carry. I need something low-profile that won't mess with the new thermal design. I'm trying to keep the setup slim since I carry a small sling. What are you guys actually using for daily MagSafe gear that doesn't add a ton of weight?

Like someone mentioned, don't waste cash on overpriced brand logos. The magnets are simple physics; they either hold or they don't. I've spent enough time in the shop to know when a part is over-engineered for no reason. Keep it simple and keep it thin if you're carrying a sling. Here is what holds up under real use:

  • Anker 620 MagGo Phone Grip
  • Good for grip but light enough to skip the bulk.
  • Belkin BoostCharge Magnetic Wireless Charger
  • Solid connection, holds a consistent charge without overheating the back glass.
  • Spigen O-Mag Ring
  • Lowest profile I've found, doesn't snag on pocket liners. Listen, stay away from the heavy duty metal cases. They kill the thermal dissipation. Stick to thin composite materials and keep the magnets direct to the back plate. Get the job done and move on.

^ This. Also, honestly, I get that everyone is obsessed with the latest gear but you guys are overthinking this. This comes up a lot—people act like you need a whole ecosystem of premium accessories just to charge a phone. If you just want to keep it slim for your sling, stop buying these overpriced 'mounts' and 'grips' that just clutter your life. TL;DR: Keep it minimal. Skip the bulky add-ons and just get a decent stand and a basic wallet. Youre just adding weight for no reason. I gotta disagree with the idea that you need fancy grips. Most of those just make the phone top-heavy and annoying to slide in and out of a pocket. If you need a wallet, just grab the Sinjimoru Magnetic Card Holder. It is dirt cheap, super thin, and does exactly what it says on the tin without trying to be a 'system.' For the desk, just get a simple Anker MagGo Magnetic Charging Station—it stays put and you dont have to fumble with cables. Seriously, just search the forum, there is a massive thread about this but the short answer is: stop trying to turn your phone into a Swiss Army knife. The 17 Pro is already a powerful tool. Don't weigh it down with plastic gimmicks that lose their magnet strength in three months anyway. Save your cash for a better sling or maybe just buy yourself a nice coffee. Keep it simple, guys...

Everyone pushes expensive ecosystem brands, but you are just paying for the logo. The magnets in generic rings are just as strong and cost a fraction of the price. If you want a slim, functional setup without the hype, look here:

  • ESR HaloLock Magnetic Ring 2-Pack for a clean, low-profile look.
  • Spigen MagFit Wallet which holds tight without the bulk. Save your money for a decent fast charger instead.
