Upgrading from my old 12 mini because the battery life is basically non-existent now. I'm moving to the 17e for the size and that supposedly improved sensor, but I'm annoyed that my old Qi pad isn't cutting it for the new magnetic alignment. I've used standard wireless chargers for years, but the magnet placement feels super finicky with these new models.

Here is what I need:

  • Under $80 budget
  • Must be a stand, not a flat pad
  • Needs to support full MagSafe speeds
  • Ideally something that doesn't slide around on my desk

What are you guys using that actually stays put?

Rarely post but I saw this and had to chime in because I dealt with the same exact headache when I switched over. Honestly, ditching the flat pads is the best move you can make. The issue with your old setup is that standard Qi chargers just lack the alignment ring, so you end up with that annoying 'not charging' notification in the morning. Since you need full MagSafe speeds, you really need to stick with MFi-certified gear or you’re gonna be capped at slow charging speeds. I’ve been using the Anker MagGo Wireless Charging Station 3-in-1 for a few months now and it is rock solid. It has a heavy base that doesnt budge when you pull the phone off, which is a huge plus if you keep it on a nightstand. It hits the full 15W charging speed, so your iPhone 17e will actually charge as fast as it’s supposed to. The magnet is super strong too, way better than those cheap third-party knockoffs. If you want something a bit more minimal, the Belkin BoostCharge Pro Portable Wireless Charger Pad is technically a stand too, but the Anker one feels way more premium on a desk. Tbh, just get the Anker and be done with it. It fits your budget perfectly and the build quality is insane for the price...

If you need a weighted stand that stays put and hits full 15W speeds without breaking your budget, check these out:

  • ESR HaloLock CryoBoost Fast Wireless Charger
  • The built-in fan keeps the phone cool, which prevents charging throttling during high-speed sessions.
  • Twelve South Forte for MagSafe
  • This uses your existing Apple MagSafe puck, creating an incredibly stable and weighted aluminum base that won't slide. Both options solve the alignment issues you had with the old Qi pads. Stick with these if you want a reliable desk anchor that actually supports the full charging profile of the 17e.

To add to the point above: I totally get the frustration—going from a 12 mini to the 17e is a massive jump, and those old Qi pads just don't have the magnetic pull strength to keep the newer, slightly heavier phones locked in. I've been obsessed with finding the perfect desk setup for months, and I've cycled through way too many stands to count. If you want something that stays put and won't break the bank, here's how my favorites stack up:

  • Belkin BoostCharge Pro 2-in-1 Wireless Charging Stand
  • This one is arguably the gold standard. It feels hefty, like it's weighted with lead, so you can grab your phone with one hand without the stand tipping over or sliding. It's MFi-certified, so you're guaranteed those full MagSafe speeds.
  • Spigen OneTap Pro MagFit Charging Stand
  • If you want to save a few bucks, this is the way to go. It doesn't actually come with the puck built-in (you insert your own Apple MagSafe charger), but the design is super clever and the silicone base is grippy as heck. It doesn't move an inch. Honestly, I prefer the Belkin for the aesthetics, but the Spigen is a tank if you're on a tighter budget. Just make sure whatever you get, you're using a proper 20W+ brick, or you'll be stuck at those annoying trickle speeds anyway. Anyway, bottom line is—don't settle for the cheap knockoffs; the magnet alignment alone makes the MFi gear worth every penny.
