Moving from my 13 Pro—which has seen better days after a few nasty drops—to the 17 Pro. I really need to prioritize screen protection and camera bump safety. I looked at the Mous Limitless and OtterBox Defender, but the reviews are all over the place regarding magnet strength. Are these actually strong enough for a heavy car mount? My budget is around $60, and I’m looking for something that won't make the phone feel like a literal brick. Which MagSafe case is going to actually survive a drop without failing me?

Stumbled upon this thread, ngl I spent way too much time watching drop test videos last night. I ended up grabbing the ESR Classic Hybrid MagSafe because it was only $25 on sale. It's lowkey super sturdy for the price. Tbh the magnet is stronger than the official Apple one. I've been using it with a heavy mount all day and it hasn't budged once. Definitely saves you some cash for other accessories too.

I am no expert, but I just went through this exact research process last week before my upgrade. If you want strong magnets, avoid the bulky cases that add too much distance between the phone and the mount. I found that the Spigen Tough Armor MagFit is a solid middle ground. It costs about $35, provides excellent drop protection with its dual-layer design, and the magnet is significantly stronger than the base Apple cases. For camera bump protection, the lip on the Caudabe Synthesis iPhone 17 Pro is better designed. It costs around $45 and feels much less like a brick than the OtterBox options. If you use a heavy car mount, check the magnet strength on the Caudabe; it held my phone steady on bumpy roads during testing.

I'm in the exact same boat with my new 17 Pro. I've spent three weeks scouring forums and watching "sponsored" videos, but I'm still stuck without a reliable case. It is incredibly frustrating that every "top-rated" option seems to have conflicting reports on magnet strength.

  • Constant search for real-world drop data.
  • Endless scrolling through fake-looking reviews.
  • Zero confidence in current market options. I am honestly just as lost as you are right now.
