Which wireless chargers work best with Google Pixel 7a?

Finally upgraded to the Pixel 7a from my old Pixel 3a. Honestly, the 3a was holding on for dear life—battery life was basically non-existent and the charging port started getting super finicky with cables (I had to prop it up at a specific angle just to get a charge). The 7a feels like a huge jump, especially with the camera, but the wireless charging situation has me scratching my head.

I’ve spent the last couple of hours digging through Reddit and some tech blogs, but I’m getting conflicting info. Most people just say 'get a Pixel Stand,' but that feels like overkill for a secondary charger on my nightstand. I also looked at a few Anker pads on Amazon, but I’m worried about the 'coil alignment' issues people keep mentioning—I really don't want to wake up to a dead phone because it shifted a millimeter off-center during the night.

My main priorities are:

  • Reliability (I'm a heavy user, so I need that battery topped off consistently)
  • Size (something low profile, nothing bulky)
  • Price (ideally under $40 since I'm already stretching my budget after the phone upgrade)

I know the 7a is capped at 7.5W for generic Qi charging (or 12W with the proprietary Google stuff), so I’m wondering if it’s even worth paying the premium for the official stand. Does anyone actually use a generic 10W or 15W pad that keeps the phone cool? My old phone used to get hot enough to fry an egg, so heat management is a big one for me.

Oh, also—does it play nice with cases? I’ve got a fairly thin Spigen case on it, but I’m worried about interference.

Has anyone found a specific charger that actually works reliably without needing to play 'find the sweet spot' every single night?

Adding my two cents, are you using a case with a built-in kickstand or a popsocket? If not, just grab the Anker PowerWave Pad 10W. It handles the 7a just fine and the rubber ring is legit for keeping it centered so you dont wake up to a dead battery. Honestly, it keeps things pretty cool too.

Re: "Oh man, welcome to the Pixel 7a club..." — honestly, just grab the Anker PowerWave II Pad 15W. It’s super slim and the non-slip surface works perfectly with my Spigen case.

Oh man, welcome to the Pixel 7a club — that 3a was definitely a trooper, but you're going to love the upgrade. This topic comes up a lot around here, and honestly, don't overthink the official stand. It's nice, but definitely not a requirement for standard overnight charging. Since you're worried about reliability and that annoying 'sweet spot' dance, here's my advice:

  • Stick to reputable brands like Anker or Belkin. You really can't go wrong with their basic Qi pads.
  • Look for ones with a little rubberized grip on the surface; it helps keep the phone from sliding off in the middle of the night.
  • Don't worry about the 7.5W cap—generic pads handle that easily, and they usually manage heat way better than the high-wattage fast chargers anyway. Your case shouldn't be an issue either, as long as it isn't super thick or metallic.
