Which fast chargers actually hit top speeds on the OnePlus 15 without overheating? I'm finally moving on from my OnePlus 9 Pro and the battery on that thing is basically a paperweight now. It takes forever to charge and the phone gets way too hot if I even look at it while it's plugged in. My main priority for the 15 is definitely the charging speed. I need to be able to top it off in minutes before I head out for the day.
I've been looking around and I'm honestly a bit lost with the tech specs. I read that the OnePlus 15 supports the latest SuperVOOC standard, but then I see conflicting stuff about USB-PD 3.1 and PPS. I found some threads saying that high-end third-party bricks like the Anker 737 are great, but then other people claim you only get like 27W or 45W instead of the full 80W+ unless you use the official red cable and the proprietary brick. It's frustrating because the official ones are always bulky and I'd prefer a more compact GaN setup.
I want something for my office desk and maybe a dedicated travel one. If I buy a high-wattage charger from a brand like Ugreen or Belkin, am I gonna be throttled? I really don't want to carry around the brick that comes in the box everywhere I go. I also care about long-term battery health because I tend to keep my phones for 3 or 4 years. Some users say SuperVOOC is better because it keeps the heat in the brick, while standard PD puts the heat management on the phone itself.
My budget is pretty flexible, I just want the fastest possible speeds that won't fry the device. Is there a specific 3rd party charger that actually handles the proprietary handshake, or am I stuck buying only official OnePlus gear if I want that lightning fast 0-100%?

Ngl I spent literal hours on Reddit trying to figure this out when I first got my OP15 last month. I totally thought my old setup would be fine — wait, no — I actually tried using my laptop brick first and the charging speed was just tragic... well, not tragic but compared to the ads? Lowkey felt like I was back in 2015 lol. Tbh, if you want that crazy 'full in 30 mins' experience, you really have to decide if you care about the extra 15-20 minutes or not.
- OnePlus 80W SuperVOOC Power Adapter: This is the one I use now. It’s kinda chunky for a travel bag, but the phone stays ice cold because the brick handles the conversion heat.
- Ugreen Nexode 100W GaN Charger: I use this for my MacBook and it works for the phone, but it's way slower since it caps at 45W via PPS. It's fine for overnight, but it definitely makes the phone feel warmer than the official one does. I ended up just getting a second official brick for my desk because once you get used to that SuperVOOC speed, anything else feels like it's broken.

Ive spent decades under hoods and one thing is certain: you dont mix and match proprietary parts if you want peak performance. The OnePlus 15 is built for SuperVOOC. That tech is designed to move the heat out of the phone and into the wall brick. Heres the cold hard truth about why your third-party gear is gonna FAIL you:
- SuperVOOC uses a specific handshake. Without it, the phone defaults to standard Power Delivery. Even with a high-end Anker 737 Charger GaNPrime 120W, youre gonna be capped at 45W max. Itll take twice as long to charge.
- Heat kills batteries. The official OnePlus 80W SuperVOOC Power Adapter manages the voltage conversion externally. Using a generic PD charger forces the phone to do the heavy lifting internally, which generates HEAT. Heat is the enemy of longevity.
- The cable matters. That red cable isnt just for looks. It has a data chip that tells the brick it can handle the high amperage. Use a cheap wire and youre throttled to a crawl.
