Which protective cases offer the best grip for OnePlus Open?

So I finally bit the bullet and switched from my old iPhone 12 to the OnePlus Open, and honestly? I am kinda terrified of this thing. I know, I know, I probably sound like a total tech illiterate here, but the 12 was so small and easy to hold and this foldable beast feels like its gonna slip out of my hands every single time I open it. I dont know if its just me being clumsy or what, but the back glass feels so slick, like an ice cube? Im constantly worried Im gonna drop it and shatter the screen because, honestly, I cant afford to fix it if I break it. My budget for a case is pretty flexible, I guess, but I really just need something that keeps it safe. I thought the camera was gonna be the main thing I cared about—which is incredible so far, btw—but now that I actually have it, the battery life and just holding the device comfortably are way more important. I feel like such a newbie asking this but does anyone have a recommendation for a case that actually has some grip? Like, not the smooth plastic ones that look nice but just slide around everywhere, but something that actually feels like it sticks to my hand. Is there a brand that makes these 'grippy' cases specifically for the Open? I feel so lost looking at all these listings online and have no idea if the 'heavy duty' ones are actually good or just bulky for no reason. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just really dont want to drop this thing on the sidewalk.

> I personally stopped dropping mine after I started using a textured aramid fiber case. Building on the earlier suggestion, I definitely agree. Aramid fiber is a game changer for grip, but if you want something even more secure, check out the Dbrand OnePlus Open Grip Case. It has a super tactile texture on the sides. Ngl, it lowkey makes the phone feel impossible to drop. It’s a bit pricey but totally worth the peace of mind.

Jumping in here. I actually had a mini heart attack last month when my phone slid right off a café table and narrowly missed the floor. That slick glass back is a nightmare. Before I drop a specific recommendation, do you prioritize a super slim profile or are you okay with a bit of extra bulk if it means maximum drop protection? I’ve tested a few options. The Poetic Spartan Series Heavy Duty Case is massive but offers unparalleled grip because of the rugged texture and built-in stand. On the flip side, the OnePlus Open Aramid Fiber Case is incredibly thin and improves friction significantly, though it lacks the heavy-duty bumpers of the Poetic. If you want a middle ground, look at the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro, which is basically a tank. Let me know what you prefer regarding bulk and I can point you toward the right one.

This comes up a lot. The stock case included in the box is too slick, so you need an aftermarket option immediately. Look into the Spigen Thin Fit Pro priced around $40. It adds adequate traction without turning the phone into a brick. Alternatively, the OtterBox Defender Series for foldables offers maximum drop protection, though it adds noticeable weight. Skip the cheap silicone skins from Amazon since they collect lint and stretch out within a month.

So funny you ask this—last summer I nearly dropped my phone into a lake! Honestly, just look for these features:

  • Textured silicone
  • Rubberized edges
  • Matte finish Avoid glossy stuff at all costs...

This comes up a lot. I personally stopped dropping mine after I started using a textured aramid fiber case. It adds zero bulk and significantly increases friction compared to bare glass.
