Sorry if this is a super basic question I honestly have no idea how any of this works. My dads birthday is next Friday and Im trying to buy him a specific tool set on Amazon but my budget is strictly under $200 and the price keeps bouncing around wildly. I need a browser thing that will just watch it for me automatically.

Here is what I need:

  • completely free (cant afford a paid app right now)
  • works on Chrome
  • super easy to use since Im terrible with tech
  • alerts my email immediately when price drops

What extension do you guys use for this? Need to get it running tonight!

I tracked a tool set last month with this. Install Price Drop Catch, I am super happy with it.

  • 1-click target price setup
  • Instant email alerts Works so well, zero complaints.

Re: "If youre on a tight budget for your..." I love Keepa for the graphs, but honestly I have to jump in with a quick word of caution! A lot of these price tracking extensions ask for permission to read and change all your data on every single website you visit. Last Christmas I had a total nightmare scenario where a discount extension I installed turned out to be super shady and started lagging my whole browser. It freaked me out so bad! Since then I am ultra cautious about what I install on Chrome. My absolute favorite solution that is 100% free and amazingly safe is using Camelcamelcamel directly! You don't even need to install a heavy extension to get instant alerts. Here are my two quick tips to get this done safely tonight:

  • Skip installing big background extensions for now and just paste the Amazon tool set link directly into Camelcamelcamel's website. Set your target price to $199 and put your email address in. It is fantastic, crazy fast, and completely safe because it never touches your personal browser data!
  • If you do install any extension, right click its icon in Chrome, go to permissions, and set it to only read data on amazon.com rather than all websites. This exact trick saved me over $85 on a DeWalt socket set last month and the email came through instantly! Your dad is gonna love the gift!

If youre on a tight budget for your dads gift, Keepa is honestly your best bet. Its free on Chrome and embeds price history graphs right onto the Amazon product page so you can see if under $200 is actually realistic. You just enter your desired price limit and select email alerts. Been using it for years to save cash on tools, super satisfied with how it works!
